no, you really do not. The Gygaxes were not in charge or even involved with D&D for a long time, there is no need to change that.

There also is no need to keep them out, assuming they are good designers in their own right and this is not just nepotism / benefitting from your family name.

Having a rift in the community, between the OSR crowd, the modern D&D crowd, and WotC is not good for WotC or the community.

For the current WotC management to be working on mending that rift and including Luke in new D&D products is a good move.

Will this be the Q4 release or something smaller associated with organized play? Or perhaps something Luke is doing on the DM's Guild, similar to some of Greenwood's Realms projects?

Either way, excited to see what they come up with!

While the OSR community may look to Luke, Luke himself plays modern D&D regularly at conventions.
