Me too, but the older I get the less time I want to be pouring over options, and the more time I want to just be playing the game.

Shadowdark scratches a different itch for me…and I am a little giddy about it

I don’t set up war of the ring when I want to play shogun. Cool they both exist.

Feel that way about D&D and shadowdark too and glad I can have both and alternate depending on my mood

I didn't want to elaborate because I'm trying to keep my comments predominantly positive.

While I can enjoy putting together a build, I tend to better enjoy options that have tradeoffs. I also prefer complexity that allows for breadth of play (leading armies, building a castle, etc) rather than just stacking more numbers.

I think my first experience with Shadowdark was a little flat because there were areas of the game where I wanted to take a few more steps. A lot of the ideas seemed in the general ballpark of something I would like, but just a few steps shy. (I also tried it at a time when I wanted something that was more of a departure from 5E.)

Much like how I tweaked some aspects of DCC to fill in some of the blank spaces, I am open to the possibility of trying to do the same with Shadowdark. But I'm not currently knowledgeable enough or experienced enough with the game to know which Scrolls or options might better suit me.

I feel there is value in asking others what aspects bring them joy rather than tying myself to thinking about what I didn't.

Even in a [+] thread I think it's ok to say, "Hey, here are my issues with the game...what do others think?"

It's showing up just to thread crap, and to make sure that everybody knows you think the game sucks, that is frowned upon.

Im excited about Shadowdark, but with the news today that the Kickstarter is delayed again I guess I will have to wait.

I have access to the PDFs, but im a physical media person.

I'm happy to wait. Unlike some other kickstarters where delays make me nervous, I'm quite sure delays here will just result in a better product. I sympathize professionally with project expansion due to wanting more cool things included.

My players were the same way, but from the GM's side, the subclasses don't tend to fully cover the niches that the main four do. I strongly encourage Shadowdark players to make sure the main four are covered before rolling up a roustabout or a pit fighter, etc.

Absolutely, the main four are my pick always!

Yeah, I have some Kickstarters where I'm frankly not sure what I'm going to get. This feels like a major expansion that will be used for years to come.

If I knew it was going to be so late I just would have purchases a copy of the core book outside of the Kickstarter, but at the time I figured buying it all at once would be fine because I wasn't planning on running it till early 2026.

Again mostly sad because I really want to use it...
