Medeival Geeks! Is There a Term for a Mace-Wielder?

Itinerant club-wielding cleric attempting to spread their faith: a mace-ionary.

    Paladin and Armor

    1. Yes, but the player can shift to avoid the opportunity attack. 2. A human paladin with plate armor and a heavy shield has a speed of 5. Heavy shields have a check penalty, but no speed penalty. 3. In my opinion (the rules are vague on the point), readied actions should be triggered off of...

Marked targets knowing about Combat Challenge

To use another example, consider the rogue's Dance of Death. If the target knows that any attack it makes against the rogue on its next turn is guaranteed to be redirected to an ally or itself, it will never choose to make that attack. Which would effectively invalidate the Artful Dodger...

Marked targets knowing about Combat Challenge

The closest is on Page 277: "A condition imposes a penalty, a vulnerability, a hindrance, or a combination of effects."

D&D 4E Most Ridiculous 4E Battle So Far

Not sure of the "save vs. Immobilized" is refering to something else, but Wrong Step isn't a (save ends) power; it lasts one turn. Of course, I don't think that would've made much difference. :P

New Excerpts: FR: feats and AV: Holy Symbols and Wands

Radiant Servants could get 19-20 threat range with powers like Flame Strike, Mantle of Glory, Purifying Fire, Enthrall, Fire Storm, etc., etc. where before they would have to choose radiant alternatives.

Hunger of Hadar and Tendrils of Thuban

Note that in both instances, the sustain effect references the zone. Hunger of Hadar: "Secondary Target: Each creature in the zone" Tendrils of Thuban: "Make a[n]... attack against all targets within the zone" If the zone didn't stick around, the targets wouldn't be within anything, and...

D&D 4E Forked Thread: 4e And 4th Wall, was multiclassing - is Arcane Initiate too powerful?

To continue the movie analogy, hiding the unreality of the experience is both the director's job and the actors' job. For instance, the director hands the actors an empty mug and says "Drink out of that as if there's coffee in it." The actor can be uncooperative when the cameras start rolling...

    swordmage powers

That character sheet is interesting. An extra +2 on death saves? Bonus basic attacks with action points? Initiative using Int mod instead of Dex? Aegis of Assault hitting one or two creatures? Quite likely the effects of new feats. EDIT: Actually, the basic attack after an AP action is...

Explain to me why are these feats good?

The extra damage isn't all that much, but if all five members of a party are taking two or three feats that increase their damage by ~2 per round each, you're looking at 20-30 extra damage a round for the group, which is nothing to sneeze at.

    Forced Movement and Walking Wounded

Hyp's right. Even the section on 285 that says "Not a Move:" says "A target's speed is irrelevant to the distance you move it."

    Forced Movement and Walking Wounded

Put another way (as I dive off the deep end into Excessively Anal Mode): Is forced movement... movement? If it is, it must follow that a creature that has been pushed, pulled or slid X squares has, by definition, moved X squares. This would also mean, by my assumption, that the creature has...

    Forced Movement and Walking Wounded

Where, in the letter of the rules, are "entering" and "leaving" squares thus defined, and thus made distinct from "moving into" squares?

    Forced Movement and Walking Wounded

Whatever the ruling for walking wounded at a given table, I (for my part) definitely think it should be consistent with blade barrier, blood pulse and wall of fire. Though I'd be inclined to rule the opposite of amysrevenge, we at least agree on consistency. When a power says "If a creature...
