What I have learned. 1. mountain dwarf is the best race for a wizard. 1 feat and he skulks around in a plate mail and with a battle axe and a large shield. 2p to int is irrelevant.

    D&D 5E Hit points explained

Yes, that was my idea generally, you get bruised and at worst, get minor cuts, but nothing you expect from a knife fight.

    D&D 5E Hit points explained

My concept is good for optional healing speeds. 1. hitpoints 50% and over, you heal as quickly as basic rules allow. 2. hitpoints under 50%, you need medic kit to heal, or magic 3. hitpoints down to 0, you heal at slow rate of 1/7 days, or with magic.

    D&D 5E Hit points explained

After reading D&D 5e damage rules I concluded thus far: Hitpoints 50% to 100% Describe fatigue from blocking and dodging attacks, you have not been really hit yet. Hitpoints 0% to 50% Describe bruises you have gotten, next day you have a lot of bruises in your body. Hitpoints 0 Someone...

    Dungeons and Realism rpg

A typical monomyth story starts with a total nobody, 0 level character, and after 1-3 stories/movies, the guy is a total messiah. Well, that is totally unrealistic. Only Ars Magica takes a realistic view on progression and characters grow in power in decades, not in a few or at worst, in one...

    D&D 5E Build an anti-stereotypical team of 4.

Optimizing for maximum damage is stupid, because the better your party is at killing, the harder enemies they face. Optimizing for versatility increases options, survival and actually makes average encounters a bit easier.

Thanx for all the input. I made a super flexible team. Barbarian type sorcerer, can dupe and pick a lock, str 16. Dwarfen defender feeling wizard, platemail, ac 20 and really strong. Flexible Druid that is a bit normal druid, but is a good at finding traps. And lastly a swashbuckler Archer...

so perhaps land druid could be the cleric.

    D&D 5E Build an anti-stereotypical team of 4.

Currently I have made characters so far: Front row has Muscular Dragon lineage Sorcerer with a great sword and aversion to shirts. Tank next to him is a mountaind dwarf with full plate, a wizard. On the back row I plan to put a female elf archer, champion fighter with some rogue like feats and...

    D&D 5E Build an anti-stereotypical team of 4.

This sounds unorthodox and flexible, Let's try with https://orcpub2.com/ spellcaster: Wis & Dex Wis 15, Dex 14, Con 14, Str10, Cha 10, Int 8 The mirror of the above, for any who want to rely on Dex-based and/or ranged weapons and light armor. Tempest, Trickery, War, and Death will be the...

unorthodox spellcaster: light cleric, maxing wisdom. feat for extra spells... unorthodox healer: paladin maxing charisma.

So Bard can be a healer... Lore bard as a "cleric" of the party?

    D&D 5E Build an anti-stereotypical team of 4.

I prefer flexibility over brute strength, guile over firepower. I would love to see a team of 4 heroes done against the stereotypes. Basic roles * Fighter --> STR 15 variant human sorcerer with weapon's proficiency feat and Greatsword. I think this works. * Rogue --> some sorf of bard * wizard...
