Tomb of Annihilation is basically this. You play with your beloved characters through a fun exploration adventure and grow attached to them, and then you get to the titular dungeon where you are unceremoniously teleported into a lightless room without oxygen. RIP.

I don't think so. They can't prepare any spells other than their spells known. They are like sorcerers, by default the spells they have memorized are the same as all the spells in their repertoire.

I think it would fit the EK & AT thematically if they could learn spells from books, plus it would make a campaign more engaging if they could be a part of the normal magical ecosystem. In a party without a wizard it would give them reasons to want to find ancient libraries of spell lore, get...

A lot of the old modules, like I9, have a unique setting. For example N3 Destiny of Kings is set in Dunador. Is that kingdom ever mentioned again? Is is the larger world ever named? Nope.

Cleric is still the only class with Revivify before level 9. Now instead of lack of healing, my players bemoan the lack of revivification when no one wants to play a cleric.

Are you saying that the books don't let the DM know he can make a world where there is actually only one god, or that they don't let players know they can play a character who only believes in one god in world with a full pantheon?
