I think the worst thing he'll get me on is my saves. My saves at first level are 4, 4, 6 i think. The further we go, the better they'll be, especially after multiclassing.

That is true, and it's something I've addressed with him; monks do have a lot of love non-core to help them be a competitive class. Problem is, this is a core only game. Not even that, this is a PHB only game. He isn't even allowing feats from the MM, like Ability Focus or INA. Nope, my DM...

Or the Clonk (cleric/monk :D) could wake up and cast magic vestment on the robe. And get bracers of armor.
