High Crit Weapon Used as Implement

I think you are hitting with the weapon during an implement attack. If you weren't, then weapon focus could never apply its damage bonus to an implement attack made with a weapon, and yet we know it does due to FAQ #21. Therefore, I don't believe that the weapon attack v. implement attack...

Illusionist Wizards - What about all the monsters that are immune?

Wow. This was stealth errata'd without anything in release notes. From the new MM: Guess the only problem are the few creatures just flat-out immune.

    Wild Sorcerer Control Questions

Mike Donais, the designer who wrote the sorcerer, posted on CharOp a few weeks ago when this question came up and said that it's a voluntary secondary attack on the part of the wild magic sorcerer. Dunno about the forced push on a natural 1.

Forked Thread: Arcane Power Excerpts: Cunning Weapons

The feat is actually Weapon Focus [Staves] since you pick a weapon group, not a particular weapon. It should work since if you are using a staff implement as a basic magic weapon, it's still a staff and, thus, a member of the staff weapon group.

Forked Thread: Arcane Power Excerpts: Cunning Weapons

I see what you're talking about that wasn't my point at all. My point was the discrepancy in the text between cunning weapon itself and the description of using cunning weapon in the start of the weapon section of AV. The off-hand property issue is a side one. For me, the main issue is...

Forked Thread: Arcane Power Excerpts: Cunning Weapons

Except that the general entry on weapons in AV uses Cunning Weapon as its specific example. So it is clarifying that Cunning weapon should only apply to weapon powers. Or it is wrong. Either way, the section just adds to the confusion. Quoting again (emphasis mine)

Forked Thread: Arcane Power Excerpts: Cunning Weapons

I don't follow you. A pact blade cannot also be a cunning weapon: they're distinct types of magic weapons. So it's always a "normal" weapon that is turned into cunning or bloodiron or what-have-you. If a staff is an implement (as it is for wizards and sorcerers) and it has a magic weapon...

Forked Thread: Arcane Power Excerpts: Cunning Weapons

If I could just-- If you would allow me-- Excuse me for one moment. Wow. Ok, so first off: thanks for finding that quote in AV. It finally puts to rest the (IMO) silly notion that you can dual wield a subtle dagger and a bloodiron dagger and get both benefits on all attacks made with...

    Weapon Focus & Implements

Obviously, they don't have to go through everything. In fact, they don't have to go through anything right now. As it stands, unless R&D decides that they don't like how the system is working, everything works for implements powers where a weapon is used as the implement, including things like...

    Weapon Focus & Implements

I don't know that I understand what you all think the problem is. Is the problem that the elemental +damage feats suck compared to just about anything else? Yep. That's not a solvable problem on its own. They should just be removed and implement focus be put in their place. Period. Trying...

    High Level Warden Are Useless!

Emphasis mine. I think the main issue is that for attacks that don't use a weapon or an implement, even if they gain a tier-appropriate bonus (as the Warden powers or the Dragonborn's breath do), they cannot gain the benefit of any Expertise feat, thus they are 1-3 points behind the max curve...

    Melee Sorcerer advice

I would drop Slaying Action and take Nimble Blade, personally. Slaying Action will come up every other combat for an extra +10.5 damage at that time. I think you'll find Nimble Blade to be more effective in the long run. Also, keep in mind that if you take a Weapon power for your dilettante...

    Melee Sorcerer advice

You actually don't need to stop it. The secondary attack is "may" not "must." It's arguable as worded in the PHB2 but Mike Donais, the designer of the power, clarified it on the CharOp board earlier this week: Wizards Community - View Single Post - Sorcerer Optimization Notes He was replying...

Feats for level 6 human wild sorc?

Sounds good to me. Slightly off-topic, but that enables a nice melee-based Wild magic sorcerer build at paragon level of Daggermaster PP/Reaper's Touch on either Acid Orb or Dragonfrost/Two-Weapon Opening/Wild Spellfury with Bloodiron daggers. Of course, Wild Spellfury is highly abusable...

Feats for level 6 human wild sorc?

Lots of good ideas in here so far. One that wasn't mentioned is Nimble Blade which I would recommend if you think it's a party where you can get CA (by putting yourself in harm's way). I actually like the melee sorcerer build using Nimble Blade and Sorcerous Blade Channeling. I think it's a...
