High Crit Weapon Used as Implement

None of them are entirely clear, but here are the relevant rules I can find: High Crit: A high crit weapon deals more damage when you score a critical hit with it. A critical hit deals maximum weapon damage and an extra 1[W] at 1st–10th levels, an extra 2[W] at 11th–20th levels, and an extra...

High Crit Weapon Used as Implement

Suppose you have a Swordmage that's using a fullblade (heavy blade, high crit) as his weapon/implement. 1. If he scores a critical hit using Sword Burst (implement attack), does he do the extra high crit damage? 2. What if he scores a critical hit using Spidersilk Slash (weapon attack, fixed...

Angel Ascendant - who do I hit?

I believe you're correct. The range of the attack is "Melee weapon", which nearly always targets one creature.

    MC Warlock and Hexer PP

I don't know if it's an oversight, but the Hexer paragon path in Arcane Power does not have "Warlock's Curse" as a prerequisite. The Hexer has a bunch of powers that allow cursing as a secondary effect. But what happens if you have only have a limited ability to use curses (with Student of...

    Avenger with a reach weapon

Nope, the Oath of Enmity power explicitly says you have to be adjacent to the target.

Offhand Staff of Ruin: Yea or Nea?

Just for the record, I'm in the "nay" camp as well. :) I believe you can use a staff implement in one hand (otherwise Small casters wouldn't be able to use it). You have to wield it in to hands if you want to use it as a weapon, though.

Offhand Staff of Ruin: Yea or Nea?

This issue came up in a recent RPGA game I played. If a wizard (or multiclass wizard) holds a Staff of Ruin in his off-hand, does he get its bonus item damage when making an attack with a weapon/implement in his main hand? The Staff of Ruin is a magical implement with the following property: "In...

    Weapon focus + holy avenger

According to the Player's Handbook FAQ (question 21, link) you do get the damage bonus from Weapon Focus when using it as an implement. Personally, I think this is a bad rule and I don't use in my home games, but that's another matter entirely.

    Action Point timing

There are a number of prestige paths that provide action point benefits that last until the end of your turn, or until your next turn. Can you spend an action point at any point during a round? Or does it have to be after you have used all your normal actions? For example, is this legal for a...

    Twofold Pact Question

Two of the pacts trigger instantaneously, though -- Fey Pact and Infernal Pact. By the wording in the feat, you'd have to choose one or the other when you drop an enemy. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that you'd have to choose one pact benefit for a Fey/Infernal combination, but you could...

    Twofold Pact Question

The way I interpret it, when you drop an enemy, you choose which pact benefit you get for it. So you could get the Star Pact benefit, giving you +1 to an attack next turn, or you can get the Dark Pact benefit and pump your Darkspiral Aura.

Ack (help figuring out weapon bonuses)

No, a +2 weapon deals +2 damage on top of the total damage, not per die. A 2d4 damage weapon is slightly better than a 1d8 damage weapon because the expected amount of damage it does is a bit better -- the average damage with a 1d8 damage weapon is 4.5, and the average damage with a 2d4 damage...

    -1 defenses vs +1 attacks

Do you want to apply the modifier to everyone in the fight, or do you want to give the PCs an advantage? If this is for the PCs' benefit, the easiest way to do this sort of thing would be to modify the monsters' defenses, say by a flat -2. Just keep it simple -- if you change the bonus from...

Lack of Symmetry in Martial Power

I like it, too. I found that with some of the powers in the PHB, there wasn't enough differentiation between classes. The powers in Martial Power help in making the martial classes more unique, and IMO more fun. Hopefully the Arcane Power and Divine Power books next year will be equally...

    At Will Retraining

You can only retrain powers for another power of the same class and level (or lower level). However, if you take the prestige multiclassing option at level 11 (instead of a prestige path), you can exchange one of your main class at-will powers for a multiclass at-will power.
