Recruitment - Call of Cthulhu, Mondays 9:00-12:00 PM EST

I'm looking for a couple of players to round out an online game of Call of Cthulhu I'm running. The method (IRC, Google Wave, etc) is open to discussion. The campaign premise is students at Miskatonic University in the 1920s. The game would take place from 9:00 PM to around 12:00 PM Eastern...

    [Maptools] 4th Edition Eberron game

I need more players for my Eberron game. We play from 9:00 to 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, via Maptools, every Thursday night. The campaign premise is that the characters are various kids who were orphaned during the Last War and have grown up in a monastery donated by the King of Breland...

    [Recruitment] Eberron game on OpenRPG

I'm going to be running an Eberron game on OpenRPG every Thursday night from 9:00 to 11:30 PM Eastern Standard Time. I need players! The premise is basically stolen from the computer game "Baldur's Gate", only instead of a monastery, the characters are war orphans coming of age in their...

    Game Systems to Try

For $10, you might as well try Savage Worlds. For $10, you could also go get the Wild Talents Essential Edition, though as it's nothing but the Wild Talents rules I'm not sure how good an introduction it would be. (It's a superhero game) My personal favorite RPG of all time is Call of Cthulhu-...

    [House Rule] Free utility feat?

Some feats I'd like to take for roleplaying purposes, but they're sub-optimal for ass-kicking purposes. I was thinking of allowing characters to take a free feat from the following list, and I was wondering if I'd break the game or something if I did so. The list includes: Jack of All Trades...

    nWoD Advice?

Uh, just making sure here- you know the system is pretty different, right? The oWoD used "StorytellER" while the new one uses "StorytellING."

    nWoD Advice?

It is doable. In fact, some suggestions- link the changes. If you really want every character to "switch" at the same time, then coordinate them somehow. This is easy with Mage/Changeling. If you have one Mage, have him be an Acanthus*, and when he signs his name to that Watchtower...

    nWoD Advice?

Really? This is an atypical impression, from what I know- the new Werewolf is really very different from the old one in a lot of key respects. I would definitely say that Requiem is the most like its predecessor. This is more or less true- an awakened mortal is basically the same guy, only now...

    nWoD Advice?

Then you'll probably want to stick to the Mage-Changeling area. Both can do urban fantasy. It's tough to excise the horror from Changeling and horror is definitely available in Mage, but the two lines are very compatible and offer plenty of flexibility to do what you're looking for. Mage is...

    nWoD Advice?

That'll be well supported by the corebook. Hunter: The Vigil just came out and can be seen as a big honkin' supplement to the core mortals game, but if you're doing the "You know nothing about the supernatural, oh look now you are in a horror movie" game, the corebook is fine. Somewhat similar...

    Bronze Warder MALFUNCTION, MALFUNCTION..

Then PC2 gets bumped or stomped on. Just work backwards from how you'd describe it- the monster charges, the player puts out his magic grieves and stops it, Blob vs. Juggernaut style.

    Bronze Warder MALFUNCTION, MALFUNCTION..

Just have it stop right there. The grieves stopped it from pushing PC 3, but not 1 or 2.

    D&D 4E Is 4E a 'Rules Light' Game?

It's not even close to rules-light. If you peg 3.5 as rules heavy, 4e is rules medium. But pretty much anything that's so dependent on a battle map and tactical depth can't be considered rules light.
