Very glad I'm the only one in the office right now, so that no one looks at me funny for giggling like a schoolgirl.

The counters look very cool. I've traditionally used a mixture of painted minis and Lego figures for combats, but I'm going to be adding the counters into the mix.

I only have one criticism of FDP. My brother and I played in Piratecat's game and in FDP's Against the Giants game. Once we visited PS O'Rourke's on Sunday night, we realized the true generosity of FDP: we'd accumulated the entire set of counters as free schwag!. Those guys are great, but they're going to have to make more counter sets before they get any sales from me :).

On the other hand, I did buy Of Sound Mind from them, and I've gotten more fun out of it than out of any other five adventures I've ever bought. Between that and the tremendous fun I had playing in Against the Giants, I'll definitely keep them in mind next time I want a published adventure.

One of the things that I was most looking forward to at this year's GenCon Indy was picking up some counters from Fiery Dragon Productions for my upcoming campaign. I grabbed Counter Collection II, the Arcana Unearthed CC, and one of the counter packs -- around US$43 worth of goodies -- and they not only sold them to me for $35, they threw in $6 worth of counter storage trays to boot.

Ah, but did you get the Orc & Pie counter card? :)

Word of mouth! Tell every other DM how cool they are. It's what I do. :)

Counters

Join the Counter Culture.

That was our slogan for GenCon this year. I'm glad to see so many people sharing the love.

For me, it's all about actually gaming....

You know, whatever makes it easy for you, go for it. If having a cardstock picture on a battlemap saves you 10 minutes of questions like, "Was the penny supposed to be the wizard, or the hostage? Who did I just kill?", then it's all golden in my world.

I really like minis. I just don't have time to paint them anymore, and I was never really that good at it in the first place (my wife is much better at the small detail work, and has absolutely no interest in gaming; it was the one area where this hobby of mine drew her in!) Counters have been great for our game, just speeding up combat, answering tactical questions ("Was than an AoO? Is he within range?") and for sheer portability.

Plus, Claudio's work tends to convey personalities even in a tiny 1 inch drawing. Fiery Todd is running a supers campaign and put one of the counters on the table. Now, the PCs don't know, but the guy is really lightweight but looks really tough. Instantly, the players see the counter and are all, "Whoa. Check this dude out! We'd better be careful, this guy looks tough!".

So, if they're working for you, feel free to spread the love (as PC suggested). We appreciate all of the kind words and kudos and look forward to brining you some more great products in the future! (We were approached at the con by several game companies looking to work out deals for themed Counter Packs for their game lines and worlds. Great buzz coming soon!)

I have a ton of minis, and I use 'em all the time.

Things I love about counters that simply cannot be done with minis.

1) Horses and wagons (carts, etc). When your truly bitchin mini gets up on a horse, what do you do? Grab a horse counter and plop 'im on top!

2) The dead. Fighting hordes of goblins, using my veritable army of goblin counters. Kill a goblin, yank the mini, and replace with a counter. Next goblin mini steps on last goblin counter... (works for skeletons, zombies, etc)

Those are Storminator's hot tips of the day!

At one point today I cracked up and my office mate looked at me... "found a good joke site?"

Definitely will do -- in fact, I'll mention them to my FLGS next time I'm in there, see if the super-friendly (and slightly-manic) staff would be willing to stock them.

Hello all,

Thanks for the love. I would have chimed in a little earlier, but I've just finished sorting through 600+ e-mails awaiting my attention. I was hoping most were of the "Sell us more product" variety post-GenCon, but the majority seemed to be of the "cheap alternative to viagra!" variety that plagues my inbox.

First, the most important part: PRODUCTIONS! Fiery Dragon Productions! :)

Last year, we had so many people look at counters and ask how to store them that we worked out a deal for the counter trays this year. They're cheap (I believe they have a $3.00 SRP), and allowed us to seal the deal a few times.

We are working on making them available online. Still a lot of stuff to go through -- I'll let you know how it goes.

We had a great time at the con, and met a lot of friends, both new and old. My biggest disappointment was that Plague of Dreams, our adventure for Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed didn't arrive at the show until late Thursday afternoon. A lot of the people that were able to pick up their AU corebook will have to wait a few weeks as the product makes it to retail.

The counters did very well, and we've been approached by many many other companies looking to do business with us.

One day, hopefully not too far off, Atomic City will see the light of day! :) You should see the interior art! :)

Again, thanks for the kind words. For us, GenCon is a busy busy vacation from our day jobs. We work hard and take it very seriously, but our goal is to have the best time possible! And we met that goal again this year, due in large part to visits from the many posters and friends we've met on ENWorld.

So, thanks again everyone. Looks like we'll have a lot of interesting info coming your way soon!

- James

James

It sounds like you guys are really busy, but is there any news on The Gates of Oblivion?

Thanks
