Rainca growls as her axe misses its mark, noting Skeeter's hit. She can feel the Blood Father's breath on her neck. She nods at Skeeter... Not so bad on foot... She takes a quick look around, squinting in the dim wishing she had Rurik's sight. Taking aim she swings again.

OOC
Attack: 4
Damage: HAHAHAHAHA :p

A moment of near complete frustration passes as everyone misses everyone else, with the exception of Rurik taking an attack of oppertunity on a bat that flies over him to attack the horses, and that bat getting a bite of horse. Brother E is healed for 8 hp.

Atrax knows...[sblock]...that this sort of attack could be normal hunting behavior for these animals, rather than anything more sinister. If so, they should be able to be driven off, especially with the help of bright lights or other things they might not expect.[/sblock]

How do I find the postid to link to my character sheet?

if you find your character record in the thread, then click on the number in the upper right corner of the post, it opens a new window with that post presented alone. you can take the url from that window to link to your character.

edit: keep forgetting the map. the astral construct is pink, because...well... I read too much marvel comics as a youth. ;)

Artax calls out This needn't be a fight to the death, we may be able to frighten them off! Try to startle them, someone can use my everburning torch! (OOC: dropped the torch in square H-4 when Artax pulled out his daggers, should have held on to it in round 1.) More quietly, he asks Brother Eusebius, If you move to attack that beast Artax indicates the bat in H-1 through H-3 I will be able to help Rurik with his wounds as well.

Artax holds his action until Brother Eusebius moves, then edges closer to Rurik and uses the Mortalist's wand on him.

(OOC: when Artax pulled out the wand he simply dropped the dagger from that hand, that's why he has so many :) This ended up being a lot of talking, mechanically could we say that Artax uses a move action saying all of that, then readies his action to take a 5 foot step and heal Rurik after Eusebius moves?)

Brother Eusebius catches his breath as the energizing tingle of healing spreads through his body like a plunge into a mountain stream. He feels his flesh knit together and flashes a smile at Artax. "Thank you, my friend." Then, in response to Artax' words, Eusebius pivots and steps to the side so as to allow him free access to Rurik.

Eusebius launches a series of high kicks at the bat attacking the horses.

As rurik lands another hit on "his" bat, it screams in pain and flutters away down into the darkness below the group. Meanwhile, brother E makes a largly futile series of kicks against the bat attacking the horses, serving only to turn its attention on him. Luckily he nimbly evades its fangs. Atrax sets forward and heals Rurik with the wand, returning 6 of the dwarf's hit points. Andrew takes Atrax's advice and moves over to scopp up the dropped torch. Unfortunately, the bat he was fighting takes advantage of this moment to bite him deeply on the shoulder. He stays standing, torch in hand, but is clearly badly wounded.

Rainca is unable to land a blow on "her" bat, but her distraction gives the construct the opening to score a hit. When skeeter also strikes home and the construct disapears, the bat takes that opening around it to flee down the hill after its companion.

Rurik, AC 18, HP 28/31

[I expect that Rurik got that Cleave, but it missed, then. He should still get that 5' step, no? (Red dot in F3, then, to help Eusebius)]

Rurik, refreshed from Artax' healing, moves and swings at Eusebius' attacker, missing, but will allow it an opening to withdraw from combat if it moves back and away from the ledge.

Attack - 4th (1d20+8=14)

Damage - never mind. :)

Rainca's anger mounts as swing after swing proves useless against the flapping, keening swarm. She reels back to swing at the moonlit-mist form before her before remembering Nodis' eager demonstration. His... construct. Rainca wonders if this strange spirit has a name. She checks her swing and sees Andrew take a nasty bite as he stoops to pick up a fallen torch.

She hunkers down, "Nodis, follow Rainca." She makes a flat-palmed gesture, pushing down, indicating to the young mystic that he should keep his head low. Making sure that Nodis is following she hurries to Andrew. Should Rainca scare away these bats or see to Hiznibs? A flicker in the young woman's eyes signals her decision, as does the low, rythmic chanting that pours from her mouth in harsh syllables.

The battle axe in her hands, flashes and gleams in the darkness in rythym to the words of its mistress, growing in intensity as she nears the fallen woodsman. She stops at Andrew's side and stands suddenly shouting the last syllables of her chant as a light coalesces on the cutting edges of her axe. She swings the axe mightily over her head as the light flares into existence.

OOC: If she is grievously wounded... say by AoOs... she'll rage and destroy any bats she can lay her blade on. And she won't be able to heal Andrew.

EDIT: Changed Artax to Andrew. Misread who was wounded.
