Bordell's Tales, Chapter 2: Broken Sword

"Ah, thank you. This is wonderful." Xavier is excited to be eating a solid food, even if the soup makes it very soft. Still exhausted, he can't eat too quickly, but he can feel the warm food healing him.

"Fish?" By now, Xavier is getting more used to solid food, and he tries to hide his excitement. "I haven't gone fishing in a very long time, but it sounds wonderful." He ignores the comment about walking slowly, since he does not like to imagine that he is weak. "I would like to talk to Snow, though. I think I need to go to Faranor."

You leave the house with two crude fish sticks and walks down the path to the river. From there, you walk downstream for a few minutes before finding a small bay where the water is calm and doesn't seem disturb by the stream of the river. You sits down and throw your lines. You relax in the shades of two trees, your back on the trunk.

"Faranor?" Jade asks with a low voice, not to scare the fishes. "What do you expect to find there? The elves are reluctant to leave there home, and even more to see a stranger enter there."

"A tree." Xavier replies, also in a low voice. "They supposedly have a great tree there--is Faranor nearby mountains? I wonder what they think of knights of Crian. I hope it is the tree from my dreams."

"The great moutain range to the west pass not that far... maybe a week of ride from there border... maybe less... I am not very familair with the elven kingdom. I've met only one elf, and he wasn't very talkative about his homeland or his culture. He was here for business and only wanted to finish his burden as soon as possible to go back to his home."

[SBLOCK=OOC]Xavier know the basic of the geography of the world... at least of lands not too far from Gaile. Here a rough map of what Gaile Peninsula and the region looks like. I have not included the national border, but I've put the them of some place you have heard about.

Edit: Hmmm... the name are hard to read... the jpg is less clean than the bitmap. To help you, Faranor is the forest in the north of the map. South of it is Greenvale. You have Gaile in the peninsula and Theor to his west. On the southern savana and desert you have the empire of Medina.[/SBLOCK]

Xavier nods and looks back toward the water. "Maybe Snow will know more about the Elves. That tree was in a glade, with mountains in the horizon, and then I was in a desert. Sounds to me that I need to go to the Elves and then to Medina."

"Faranor, then Medina. You'll be travelling for months, even if you are lucky in your search." The conversation stay there and you spend another hour fishing before ctaching four fish, which should be more than enough for you two. You walk back to Jade's home where she prepare the fish with some fruits.

Later in the afternoon, Snow arrive at the home. "How are you, warrior? You seems to recover well."

"I grow stronger every day--and you can call me 'Xavier.'" Xavier is sitting, stretching, but he stops to talk, "Are you familiar with Elves? Or their tree?" He explains his logic, hoping the Snow will be able to offer his opinion of the dreams.

Snow take a moment to think before answering. "Elves, no, only elves are familiar with elves for as much as I know. Our tribes have never interracted with them. We are generally interracting only with our neighboor, so it means Gaile and Theor, and some tribes had relations with the city of Greenvale, but that are the western most tribes." He then turn his attention on Jade. "I have some bad news for you. You'll have to move from here. News have come that the kingdom of Gaile are about to launch his army on our peoples. They want to secure there border once and for all, which mean that they will not try to negotiate like the Order used to do. The first troops have cross the borders. Some farms have been sacked by the army, collateral casualities. You aren't safe Jade."

"I cannot go, it is all I have. I have the right to live peacefully."

"Peace will be something precious in this region... Horned Owl had told me that the tempest will come and strike all Terathia. I think this is the wind that grow stronger."

"Where can I go?" asks Jade.

Snow turns his eyes on you. "Why not Faranor? Xavier might be able to find some answer there it seems."

"What?"

"And I'll come with you too. Xavier has a mission, and his god told him he would not be alone in this quest. Do you want to question his god?"

Jade look at Snow. No question can get out of her mouth, but many interrogation fills her face.

<I suppose Snow has a point...> Xavier is caught by surprise, unsure of what to say. "I do not know why any nation would attack its own people and farms. Farmers do not pose any threat... I suppose it is only fitting that since you have kept me safe through my months here, that you should come with me to stay safe." He turns to Snow. "And what about your tribe? Do you not have other responsibilities to tend to? I am grateful for the company--you likely are more comfortable in nature than I am--but it is a lot to ask to be separated from your tribe."

Xavier places his feet on the ground to stand up. "If we're going, we have to go right away. My walking pace will slow us down, and we do not want to be around when the army gets here." He stands up and goes to where the pieces of Stone's sword are kept, "I hope Elves like Knights of Crian."

"They attacked the few farms that have been establish into the barbarian lands. A few Gailian and Theoran has chosen to establish farms in our lands. We protect them in exchange of a part of there production. These people are seldom criminals in your lands, or people that can't pay anymore taxes... or simply people that want more solitude." tells Snow, looking at Jade while he adds his last comment.

"Don't hurry. If you really wnt to travel to Faranor, the trip will be long. We can wait a few days without problem. I have to meet a tribe that live near here to carry a message. Prepare your travel, we will leave when I'll be back. I should be back tomorrow or the day after." on that, Snow leaves your company again.
