[Star Wars d20] The Death Star's Superlaser

You could, but its going to be awfully tough to catch someone flatfooted when you're trying to sneak up on them with two Death Stars.

A Potion of Invisibility solves that problem!

Bah, use as improvised melee weapons and flank them.
Or just use a scout and skirmish them to death with Death Stars.

Easy. They'll mistake them for moons, and you can hide behind them!

"That's no moon..."

Hey, if a crotchety, backwoods kook, self-exiled for 30 years, can identify a battle station as not a moon, so can the mind-flayer you're hiding from.
Check and hit, I've sunk your wicket!

If you're going to catch them off-guard, how about the illusion of two ice cream cones, instead of two Death Stars? Your enemy will thank you for your colossal generosity. For extra fun, they may fail their Will saves and drown in frigid, delicious folds of death.

Or you can just shoot them with the superlaser. I know, I know, you'll miss out on 10d6 sneak attack dice, so your base damage will be a measly 299.999.999.999.999.999.990d6. But remember, with that Crossbow Sniper feat you took, you can add your Dex to really bolster your diminished dps!

Cool, thanks, Deset Gled.

Unfortunately, it seems that my Imperial Sourcebook and Dark Empire Sourcebook are AWOL (Word to the wise: if your fiancee moves into your one bedroom apartment, don't expect to be able to see the carpet again). I did find my Jedi Academy Sourcebook (which is kinda depressing) and standard rules book, though.

The prototype Death Star (from the Maw installation) did 6d6 Death Star scale damage, and could recharge 2d6 worth of laser power per hour (it could fire partial blasts, like the second Death Star could ). IIRC, the prototype was about half as powerful as the first Death Star, so I would assume that one could do about 12d6 damage and probably took a full day to recharge. The prototype Death Star has a range of 90, which means it more or less has to be in orbit of a planet to hit it.

One thing to keep in mind is that in SW 2e, damage scaled in an additive manner (one of the really stupid things about 2e, IMO). Death Star scale is +24d6, so the laser would do the equivalent of 30d6 damage on the personal scale, or 18d6 damage on the capital ship scale. That's enough damage to destroy most capical ships in a single blast (with the exception of super-sized ships like the Eclipse), but is also about as much damage a 5 strikes with a lightsaber. Go figure. I believe SW d20 has some more advanced conversion for this type of thing.

I'll keep digging around to see if I can find my other books.

No, no, no! The Enterprise would pwn them all!
Suddenly I'm having this vision of the Enterprise flying down that shaft instead of the Millennium Falcon. :) Hmm, the top can separate from the rest of the Enterprise, and then it does look like a disc - much like the millennium falcon, only bigger, so perhaps it was present for the destruction of the second death star. We just didn't see it cause all the other ships were in the way.
