We've got some other Mayfair Droids on the books, but none of them are Laser Security Tanks.

Oh heck, I'll just put in the conventional 5-8 HD (Medium); 9-12 HD (Large).
They look about a Challenge Rating 4 to me.
It'll be easy enough for a DM to make them BIGGER if they want to.

Are constructs living creatures eligible for that template?
I'm trying to sort out some descriptive text, but maybe we can do the defective version first. It seems to me they should have some kind of problem with their laser and definitely a short in their logic circuits.

They're living creatures if I say they are!
Come to think of it, we should never have limited it to living creatures since the Immortal set has Gargantuan Undead which are by definition not living.
Furthermore, IIRC a gargoyle is a construct in Basic D&D (or, at least, some editions of it).
Also, we started allowing for incorporeal gargantuans, since the Immortal Set has Shadows and such-like.
Hmm, we'd better change it to "any creature" then.
Hmm, sounds like something a Robot Drill Instructor would shout at its recruit "do you have a short in your logic circuits, you rusty little cuckoo clock!"

Hmm, it already has a -2 competence penalty to its ranged attacks for having "Defective Circuits", which reduces its laser to a +4 ranged touch. If that's not enough, we can say it doesn't get its +3 "Targeting Sensors" bonus to its laser, which cuts it to a +1 ranged touch.
A 5 point drop in accuracy seems to be enough. If you want a penalty as well I'd like to hear a decent argument first.
