I shudder to think what D&D monster you'd use the rubber flamingo for.
LOL. I only use the actual Roly People Pawns, none of the others. They come in 9 different colors, so I can portray 9 different kinds of monsters or nine different monsters or a combination there of with no problem. Since they're so generic, I'm actually finding that some of the players are becoming more immersed in the games I run here-and-there because there isn't, for example, an orc mini with a sword that's representing an orc mini with a bow or some such. It's a small thing, but an interesting phenomenon.

Edit: Plus I've glued to the bottom with contact cement magnetic strips so that my Alea Markers easily attach to them. This makes it even easier to keep track of conditions, who's who, etc.

A giant flaming flamingo of DOOM of course.

If you're not already invested in 28mm figures, there are two (at least) 15mm wargaming companies that are busy expanding their D&D type lines:

Very good suggestion. It also lets one use normal dragon minis so dragons are as big as they DESERVE to be (Something 2E got right).

SkidAce you know of any easy to find images that show how big Shooting Star is in RoLW?

The reaper dragons are decent (not perfect) for size comparison with 25-28mm. I am finishing up Ebonwrath, and it is slightly too large for the 3" Huge Adult Black Dragon that I will be using it for...so perfect.

If the group was heavily into 1" maps, I would think that 15mm would be better for actual scale with the map (as no adventurers are actually 5 the feet wide that 28mm suggests). The difficulty with going 15mm I imagine is that there are not a lot of monsters available at that size.
