On seeing the monks, Carradoc wastes no time. He retreats, but remains in the open, as if daring the monks to come chase him.

When he is standing in the clearing, he turns, and releases a beam of fire which slowly grows into a ball of flame that explodes in front of the monks. It shoots forth, at is had the last time he used the spell against the hippogriff, and Carradoc smiles.

OOC: Move to U13.
Fireball to G 15. Damage = [roll0], dex save DC 16 for half.

Seeing Carradoc's rather unsubtle display of magic, Maighan waves a hand and utters a call in the Druidic tongue. To the seasons, to the turning of days, to the roots and shoots in the ground. Her call is answered, as grasses and vines and shrubs explode out of the earth at the feet of the monks, writhing and twining around their feet.

If they don't act quickly, they'll be mired to the spot; unable to close in or run for aid!

(Entangle, Dex save DC 16 or be restrained!)

[section]Dent drew his longsword and readied his shield. He'd been about to close the gap between himself and the three monks when there was a whoosh and a boom. The heat from the blaze withered the grass. Dent felt his earth plate armor burn against his skin. He turned and eyed Carradoc with new respect. "I see you've learned a new trick." Dent turned back to the monks, chortling in pleasure as their clothes went up in flame. The curling grasses and reedy weeds entangling the twenty feet surrounding the three monks, however, presented a problem. Dent frowned. His plan for a head-on attack temporarily foiled, he quickly surveyed the changed battlefield and decided on an alternate tactic. Making use of the foliage for cover and his colleague's skill at softening the foe, Dent stalked to the side between an overgrown ossage orange shrub and a chestnut. He snaked his way east, making for the northern side of the rocky cave mouth, where he laid in wait--careful to keep a respectful distance from Maighan's handiwork--for opportunity to present itself. Pleased to see the enemy harried into early submission, Dent smirked. And I haven't even had to sully my blade just yet. More the better.[/section]

[sblock=OOC]
Move: L11 >> I12 >> F12
Action: Dash
Reaction: Shield Master. If you aren't incapacitated, you can add your shield's AC bonus (+2) to any Dexterity saving throw you make against a spell or other harmful effect that targets only you; and if you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you can use your reaction to take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, interposing your shield between yourself and the source of the effect.

(OOC - I can center the spell behind them, so it leaves them open to approach from our direction if you wish...my main priority was stopping them from easily retreating.)

OOC: Actually, this really works as-is. You guys are getting them all nice and marshmallowy soft for Dent to move in for the kill later (if they're still standing, which I kind of doubt).

Thaliss first blast hits a monk.

Carradoc sends fire down on the enemy position. One monk saves.

Maighan restrains two of the monks (top two).

Dent saunters forward.

The one free monk goes right up to Dent. Another breaks free, only moving towards the party. The final monk seem quite rooted.

The monk in Dent's face casts a Thunderwave spell as a 2nd level spell. Dent somehow fails his saving throw (nat 1) and is pushed back 10 feet and dealt all of 15 points of damage.

They seem quite silent, stoic, and willing to fight on unto death.

[section]Visions of Qarbo firing his blood, Dent shook it off and darted forward. He attempted his signature move: use his shield to knock the monk prone, then hack fiercely with his blade. Dent watched his foe with wary eyes. He tensed, preparing himself to react with another blow should the monk attempt to attack anyone else or move away. [/section]

EDIT: Total 25 points of dmg is monk is prone, or 20 points if not prone.

[sblock=OOC]
Move: G12 (ten feet forward)
Bonus Action: Shove prone (using Shield Master feat) Athletics [roll0]
Action: Attack G13 with advantage if monk is knocked prone. As a 5th level paladin, Dent gets 2 attacks. Longsword [roll1] with advantage [roll2] for [roll3] damage. Second attack with longsword [roll4] with advantage? I do not think the second attack gets advantage, but am supplying a roll in case (see PHB 173, "Advantage and Disadvantage," para. 4). Advantage [roll5] for [roll6] damage. Also, smite on a successful hit for an additional [roll7] radiant damage.
Reaction: Sentinel. 1) When you hit a creature with an opportunity attack, the creature's speed becomes 0 for the rest of the turn; 2) Creatures within 5' of Dent provoke opportunity attacks from Dent even if they take the Disengage action before leaving your reach; 3) When a creature within 5' of Dent makes an attack against a target other than Dent (and that target doesn't have this feat), Dent can use his reaction to make a melee weapon attack against the attacking creature.

Thaliss wonders for a moment what would make these monks so loyal to their cause. This thought is on only fleeting, as he sends two blasts of force towards the one closest to him.

Blast 1: attack [roll0]
Force damage [roll1]

Blast 2: attack [roll2]
Force damage [roll3]

Note: Thaliss will cast shield as a reaction if he is hit by an attack (+5 to AC)
