D&D 5E [IC] Uller's Out of the Abyss

As you move along the ledge, it narrows to just a couple feet wide and is made of loose stones that easily slide under your feet. The slope turns sharply off to the left so it is hard to see more than 30-40'. You are all hurrying along as best you can. The better climbers helping along those less skilled.

As you round the bend, Eldeth stops up short. Surana has trouble making out what Eldeth can see. About 35' ahead Surana can see the outline of a large creature standing on the ledge. One hooked arm clings to the wall above it, the other hangs lazily to its side. Its head turns toward you, its many faceted eyes reflecting gold in the pale light from your 'torch' in your pack. There are no immediate signs of others.

It is hard to make out, but it appears the path widens and is more stable where it is standing.

Roll initiative.

[MENTION=6776182]JustinCase[/MENTION], Erevan hears Eldeth let out a gasp. You can clearly make out the flashing of the creature's eyes as it turns towards the frightened dwarf. It's about 45' from you.

Erevan turns to Shushar, who is tied to him, and asks, "Please hold me so I won't fall. I'm going to try this."

With that, the elf draws his bow and relies on the kuo toa to keep him safe.

OOC: Can I still attack this round? If not, it'll be for my next turn:
Attack [roll0]
If disadvantage [roll1]
Damage [roll2]

OOC: You can move in front of Shuushar and on his turn he can grab hold of your rope to help stablize you. You have no disadvantage for a missile weapon. If you take damage, you can fall but Shuushar is aiding you (after his turn, of course)

The arrow sinks into the creatures hide with a thwak! that echoes through the massive cavern. It doesn't react much. Like it felt no pain. Maybe it is just so alien to you but it isn't what you'd expect.

Sarith cannot see it from his vantage so far back. "It's just standing there? That's...strange...they are natural ambushers. Derendil, watch behind us!". He readies his hand cross bow for if anything comes into sight and steadies himself with his free hand.

Topsy and Turvy cling to each other in fear.

Orsik holds his hammer high and utters a prayer (bless) to Moradin. Surana, Eldeth and Erevan all feel a powerful guiding energy flow through them. (+1d4 to attacks and saves)

Bertram also can't see the creature so he also readies his crossbow.

Shuushar helps stabilize Erevan.

Eldeth kneels and fires her crossbow
Attack: [roll]1d20+1d4+4[/roll]
Dmg: [roll0]

OOC: hmm...I guess it doesn't like adding dice...
Attack: [roll0]
bless: [roll1]

Her bolt skips off its carapace. Derendil grabs hold of the wall and readies to defend the rear of the party.
[MENTION=6801331]DMAesh[/MENTION], Ezraen is up.
