I did the same with the previous version. I printed it out as a 36x48 color engineering print at Staples for like $12. I was hoping to stitch together the files this time to do something even nicer.

Honestly, the engineering print was nice enough and quite usable at the table. The stock is heavy enough to hold up over time as well. But again, I was trying to look into what it would take to get the very best quality possible.

Tyvek, it's really, really good. They offer it here at a place like Staples called OfficeWorks. Cost me $40 AUD for an A0 size print that came out really nice. Tyvek isn't only very durable and waterproof but apparently it takes the print much better than paper. It certainly looks amazing in person and because of the Tyvek texture, it has a bit of a "parchment" feel to it.

Mike has nothing to do with the roads and locations on the map, as far as I know. All that is decided by WotC. I'm not even sure Mike is the one who puts them on the map. It might be the Wizards graphics team who labels all the towns, rivers, mountains, rivers, cities, etc.

I am a little skeptical that this is true.

Just coming back around to show how the oversized engineering print turned out. Cost about $12.

Nice! Looks like heavy stock?

Definitely. I think it's meant for blueprints and such things (you can check some details at staples.com). It was rolled up tight for a week (not sure how the paper stock is stored before printing), but released the curl pretty quickly after laying it out. Heavy enough to lay nice and flat on the table, and heavy enough that I don't worry about wrinkling the paper by placing a book on it, or moving my laptop around a little while sitting on it.

Probably not as nice as the tyvek material mentioned above, but it's pretty inexpensive.

Schley, I love your map style and I think your maps are among the best I've ever seen as regards the blend between form and function - on one hand they're definitely attractive enough to look at and admire, one the second they're clear enough to be actually useful and on the third hand, they are definitely traditional fantasy maps (an important quality of its own)! :)

Thanks so much! Useful, readable, and evocative are the three targets I try to aim for. :)
