Carradoc is uneasy as he shifts his ordinary completely unmagical backpack onto his shoulder once again after his long rest. He had been so pleased with himself. And now, his precious haversack disappeared into the astral plane somewhere, with a dragon turtle with it.

Now it plies the ether, confused and alone, but perhaps destined for spectacular things. If it was still alive. he doesn't know, and he didn't check. Carradoc's magical interests are of a different nature -- theoretical more than experimental, most of the time.

The rest is peaceable; he has regained his spells. He is ready to proceed.

OOC: The map's getting a bit unweildy at this point. There's unexplored area to the south-west, and most of the north 3rd of the dungeon.

Sealed copper vats stand in two rows in the middle of this large room. The vats are old and completely covered in verdigris. Most of the paint on the walls peeled away long ago, but a few hints of murals remain, showing dwarves working in fields and tending hop vines. Three new, backpack-sized glass tanks with carrying harnesses are stacked neatly at the end of the row of vats. Doors exit to the west, east, and south.

Upon closer inspection three of the things seem half-full and clammy to the touch.

Thaliss conjures a fire under one of them, to see what happens. To Carradoc, the only original companion remaining from the beginning of the quest, but for the others to hear too Recall the priest on the raft when we first crossed the river. He had barnackles growing on his body. I wonder if these vats are related to some sort of ritualistic transformation.

OOC: Thaliss sends his owl outside the room as a sentry, then casts create bondfire under one of the glass tanks

After a full minute of heat something inside the cask starts banging on the surface of it, rattling it back and forth, and screaming.

As the lid is unlocked a water elemental creature emerges from the vat like a large snake. It quickly lashes out towards the nearest person (presumably Kubeba?) [roll0] to hit and [roll1]. Then parties actions.

OOC: No immediate map update as this isn't much of an encounter for the group.
