It depends on the player.

Some players use certain weapons regularly.

So I have probably seen more blowgun, net, and whip than others.

Maybe I have never seen a "dart" in play - the one that is a hand-thrown arrow?

I assume "flail" includes nunchaku, so yeah.

As a DM, I might want to see more trident, pike, and lance, but I dont think I have seen a player use these.

Trident got use in my recent campaign, due to the inclusion of Wave in the player's backstory and adventures.

BTW, I made tridents deal 2d4 damage (1-3 prongs hitting, dealing ~1d3 each essentially), with it being versatile (3d4).
That’ll certainly get people to use tridents. That would seem to make it the strongest martial melee weapon in the game.

Personally, I think trident should be rolled up into one-handable spears (and then they systematically decide what they want to do with spears in general*).
*1h spear with PAM and shield is a way to make what IRL was a perfectly good military weapon viable for a martial character to regularly use, but it seems like the most convoluted and unsatisfactory way of doing it.

I think that falls into what was meant by not a pc weapon -- not one you choose for your character when equipping yourself (once the various cost differences between the weapons becomes trivial), much less making a build around. All weapons and armor work well for the role of things you use when nothing else is available (same reason for padded armor and scale mail and such).
Eh, this would also knock out unexpected found PC magic weapons.

My valor bard picked up a magic trident in an adventure and started using it as his chosen weapon. Without having found it I would have stuck with my axe.

Net and whip I can see niches for, but I can’t imagine any reason to use a blowgun. It’s just the worst ranged weapon in every conceivable way.

Not surprising, as functionally just a dagger you can’t dual-wield with.

I’ve seen some lance use - it’s an obscure niche, but a viable one.

Blowgun is for poison.

Both the Poisoners tool set and the Medicine skill can make poison, such as from certain plants or animals.

As a DM I used more than I've seen with PCs.

I've used a dart throwing ranger NPC going for a Bullseye vibe (the dice were decidedly against his attack rolls in the actual combat unfortunately).

I've used a net throwing spider construct. And a net shooting scientific specimen retriever drone.

I've had a wasteland ghoul gang member with a cobbled together war pick.

I've used a ghoul with a glaive and reskinned it to be a pole saw.

Sorry, re-reading your post, it felt like you were saying something else. Personally, d12's hate me, every time I roll one, I tend to get a result of 5 or less. This isn't hyperbole either, you should have seen what happened whenever I tried to use my Yuan Ti's poison spray.

Once, in PF1e, I foolishly played a character using a Lucerne Hammer, which did 1d12 damage. From level 1-8, if I rolled a 7 on a d12, I counted myself lucky.
Oh man…that would truly suck playing my game, which uses a d12 Action Die and a pool of d6 Rank Dice for action resolution.

I had a halfling Paladin with a Lance. It was fun.

My halfling monk used a sling and never looked back. One handed ranged weapon is nice. He would have probably even become a kensai for improved damage while using the sling.
