Yes. But now I'm thinking that it feels like which two decades changes that a lot. 1970-1990 feels like a lot longer time spread in my head-space than 2004-2024. Does each additional year mentally count less because it is a smaller percentage of the cumulative experienced time when it happened than the year before it was?

And then you get to note that, for you and I is was a smaller percentage - but for a new gamer who was only just born when 3e came out, it was a much longer percentage of their time.

Every time someone tells me "10 years ago...", my mind backs to 1990s instead of 2010s.

If someone won't be able to figure out via context what rules I am talking about when I make a post and they make a post asking which rules I was referring to... that's cool. They can ask. No biggie. But I'll just let someone else answer them. Because goodness knows someone here on EN World will always be happy to step up and postsplain when necessary. ;)

You think 90% of everyone here is going to just stop using the 2014 books and only talk about the new ones? Nowhere near that percentage has even said they're going to buy the new books.
Yeah it's not something I am worried about. And yes, for people who post on a D&D message board, which is a pretty antiquated thing these days, I feel very confident people will figure it out just fine,

I will be buying the new PHB if only because my PHB is disintegrating.
I own three copies of the 2014 PH, and barely use them anyway (just in a game with my family, as we're trying to ease the kids into the game). I have zero reason to spend money on replacements that do little if anything I would want anyway.

Yes, we know, and we love you for your consistency, but don't expect to have a large crowd of like-minded compatriots. You'll have a small, possibly vocal, group. A few of which I suspect you won't want to be associated with in any other context.

I'm sorry, was there a poll recently stating that nearly everyone here was planning on leaving their 2014 books behind and moving on to whatever WotC is spitting out later this year? Last I heard that was far from unanimous.
