It is the 50th anniversary and Random House, so yeah - I thought/hoped it was a reprint of the pocket books.Did you really? You saw the headline, and this is what you thought Penguin Random House was publishing?

I saw expert + pocket so yeah I thought it was something with a nod to old school. 5e version of expert, something like that.

Barring my expectation, I thought it would be a handy reference for 5E, something that would be a quick-refrence guide for rules, tables, etc.
In 2024 terms, the Rules Glossary would also be included.

"Pocket Expert" is an established children's miniature reference book series from Random House's DK imprint.
The 50th Anniversary is about selling the brand, hwnce all the stuff aimed at kids, though the B/X rules are readily available from DMsGuiod right now.

I thought the same thing. The word "expert" in the context of D&D means only one thing to me--that set.
