D&D (2024) Group Checks?

I haven't spend a bunch of time looking over the new PHB, but I don't recall seeing rules for Group Checks like in 2014 PHB, p.175.

Anyone point me to it in 2024? Did they remove it??

DMG, Chapter 2, resolving outcomes, ability checks. There you will find group checks.

Actually, there's something quite interesting in the new write up:

They tell us that group checks aren't the right tool to resolve situations where a single failed check would have consequences.

They even call out stealth checks specifically.

So you are now not supposed to use group checks for stealth?

In a situation where a single party member being loud would have alerted the guards for the presence of the whole group, I guess.

I've never used group checks for stealth. Or even very much at all. If one success means success for the whole group or one failure means disaster, then I've never used them.

Group stealth? Nope, one person kick a can, they are detected. Insight about what motivates an NPC? Nope, only one needs to be successful.

Building a bridge, sure that's a group activity (that has never come up in our play in the last decade). We just don't have many group activities that a single success or failure don't drive the results.
