General DCC RPG thread

There are a lot of 3rd party DCC and others that do good work. And I have so much content already for DCC that I don’t need much more. Just very unfortunate that they made the choice.

That's a good point. Even for those who feel uneasy about supporting GG, there is a lot of third-party content.

Once you have the core book needed to play, you can easily find options for expanding your DCC game through other companies.

For example, I recently backed a new funnel made by a third party.

What's a good setting to run DCC in?

Would I be correct in saying that it's got a heavy metal sword and sorcery vibe?

Some D&D settings I haven't run yet are Mystara and Dark Sun. Would it work with any of those?

IIRC Mystara has even more weird stuff in it than Greyhawk does? DCC would work well for that.
Dark Sun would work well, but you might want to use some Mutant Crawl Classics (MCC) or other DCC rules supplements to work in the psionics etc. All the (X)CC stuff works fine together.

I don't think it would be a particularly good fit for most TSR settings. I would get some old Heavy Metal magazines or a copy of Ralph Bakshi's Wizards.

The third party Hubris setting is also widely regarded for DCC.

Yeah, definitely Dark Sun over Mystara. Original Greyhawk would vibe, too.

As far as DCC RPG-specific settings, Lankhmar and Empire of the East are both very cool (though I might recommend using the setting of Empire of the East without the class restrictions). Dying Earth, likewise, but it's a bit more complex to run.
