For those comparing it to Guardians of the Galaxy; what would you think of the aesthetic if Guardians didn't exist or looked different? Would your opinion stay the same or change?

Scrappy misfits standing up to powerful evil, and mocking it to its face, will always work for me. That's been true for me long before Guardians of the Galaxy came along.

That’s nothing to do with the aesthetics though, which was the topic in question. You just described everything from Robin Hood to Star Wars, and those two things do not look the same.

It evokes Guardians a bit, for me, but I think Guardians was Gunn adapting his style to the MCU vibe, and the combination worked gangbusters, especially in the first film. Hopefully this film will be similar, with director putting their own mark on the aesthetic. I dunno, the trailer definitely works for me.

In my mind, "scrappy misfits" included the protagonists being scruffy lower status folks, but you're right, I didn't explicitly say so immediately.

So, yes, scruffy looking nerfherders conmen space cowboys Kryptonians standing up to the powerful have always worked for me.
