Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

It's frustrating how people are still insisting that Saw Gerrera isn't a bad rebel.

The show makes it as obvious as possible, both showing it through his actions and having characters outright say it.

He responds to being told to stop torturing people, murdering surrendering enemies, murdering civilians, etc. with:

"I hope, Senator, after you've lost, and the Empire reigns over the galaxy unopposed, you will find some comfort in the knowledge that you fought according to the rules."

It's a classic bad faith move, when told his methods are wrong he acts as if you oppose his goal entirely or acts like obviously counterproductive methods are the only way to achieve the Rebellion's goals.

But because it's a cool line people don't pay attention to what he's actually defending:

Torture is an ineffective way of getting information, enemies don't surrender if you'll murder them either way, murdering civilians doesn't help the Rebellion (especially since Saw views using shrapnel weapons on children as a valid tactic as long as Imperial officials die too), but Saw cares more about hurting the Empire than helping people.

Not just that, he's shown to literally be high on his own supply.

Rhydonium is incredibly destructive and toxic and Saw huffs it because he's been breathing it for so long he can't live without it.

It's an incredibly blunt metaphor for how Saw is addicted to destruction.
