DLSS 5 will be the worst thing to EVER happen to video games

I read through this entire 18 page discussion and not once did I have explained to me how this is going to ruin my Stardew Valley and Atari 2600 River Raid Xbox experience.

Can I still play my Rock Band?

No. Once your play instrument breaks...the party is over...

Stardew valley will now look like a bunch of pictures in still form moving around your screen. Chickens will no longer be pixelated.

Atari River Raid has had problems in the translation. It now has been interpreted as a realistic pig falling down between two cliffs with random things you have to avoid during the fall or you go splat. AI has not caught up to the idea that this is an awfully big cliff you are falling down...but there you go. Don't hit that large deer on a car in the middle of your fall there...

For those who have lost their humor filter, the above is an attempt at sarcastic tongue in cheek humor...

I was told I'd have chickens with Instagram model duck lips!!!!

I did that for Oblivion: Remastered. A portion of the elves look very strange, so I downloaded a couple of mods that fix a lot of Altmer and Dunmer NPCs. A comment jokingly called one of them “tasteful yassification.” They don’t make the NPCs more glamorous, just less grotesque.

I don’t know whether the odd appearance is a deliberate choice or a consequence of porting the original.
Probably no one would have minded if Mass Effect: Andromeda's "artistic vision" had been disintegrated for the sake of the character faces and facial animations.

Sorry, Nvidia's going to take those games away from you and force you to buy Slopfest 2027 at gunpoint.

While it was rushed as heck, even at release it still had more life and personality in the face animations than a random supermodded GotY Bethesda game. Mass Effect: Andromeda was fine.

The GenAI source bias is on full display when you look at the soccer game.

This is a real person and the original unmodified image looks the most like him.

On the other hand, the GenAI face seems to look a bit more like it's a real person, it just isn't the one it's supposed to be. I would expect that an "artist" that has DLSS5 capabilities and can test it around might alter the original so the AI produces something more closely to the real individual. (Though I have no idea what that body pose is supposed to be in the 2nd DLSS picture, but I don't think that's the DLSS).

Kinda like you have to do different things whether you want to make a representation of a person using use 8-Bit Pixel Art, Voxels, low polygon models, high polygon models, smaller or higher resolution textures, whether you have access to subsurface scattering or not and so on.

It's not just the face, it changes the skintone of black people in very inconsistent ways.

I can't believe I have to say this on a forum about elf games: realism isn't the only artistic expression worth to pursue. Stylisations isn't only because of technology — but it might be — and some of those are semi-realistic. It's not a flaw of a game if it isn't photorealistic.
