It’s a funny thing how subjective tastes can be. The horns are the feature I’m most proud of on the larger dinosaur.

Anyone here paint a Reaper Black Axebeak?
I recently got a pair and I really want to lean into a ostrich or emu look for color/shades and would love suggestions.

Finally had some time to work on a few yesterday. I'm pretty pleased overall, I borrowed one of those magnifier headsets and it made a huge difference! I definitely will be investing in my own soon.

The carrion crawler and gorgon are from a Bones Kickstarter ages ago. The umber hulk is from the WizKids line. All primed with black basecoat, grey drybrush and white highlight drybrush. All painted with Army Painter speed paints.

A few observations:
The umber hulk "small" eyes didn't come out the same color due to the undercoat being uneven (darker on one side than the other). I need to invest in some standard paints for eyes, speed paints just aren't designed for that unless the eyes are huge (ala the umber hulk's "big" eyes).

The gorgon is a work in progress. While I love the greenish tint on the Aztec Gold body, I was hoping for a touch more green. I am going to apply a dark wash over the body I think and see what does. (My plan is to apply a matt wash to lock in the undercoat so it doesn't reactivate and then apply the wash, if this sounds incorrect, please let me know!)

The horns and hooves I'm going to use a glossy wash to hopefully make them stand out more.

OG Hero's Quest at that!! I plan to experiment with my set as well at some point. I can't wait to see how yours turn out.
