    Book of Hell: Any thoughts?

I think that's from the 1st ed Manual of the Planes, but I could be wrong. Yeah, it was a shameless lift - er, homage. I just love quirky magical physics like that (for those who don't know what we're babbling about, it's the idea that ioun stones come from the border of the Earth Plane and the...

    [Sept] What are you playing?

Currently playing in an Exalted Game. Running - a/state: the characters woke up amnesiac in a canal, and things have gotten weirder. Currently, the entire group is divided against itself on opposite sides of gaping religous/corporate divides. Eberron: Chronicles of the Reconstruction: the PCs...

(Mongoose) Paranoia XP - Out This Week!

There was some confusion over the rights to the original images, as far as I know, so Mongoose got Jim to do new versions of some classic art.

What books did you use last session?

I used: DMG, PHB, MM Mongoose PPH Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil Classic Play: Book of the Sea (as I rapidly convert a beastie as a stand-in for the Prince of Evil Water Elementals) The players were throwing stuff from Complete Divine, Complete Warrior, Tome and Blood and a few Quints...

d20/D&D books you own: likes, dislikes, actually uses

Loathe as I am to correct you, given I work for Mongoose, but Airships, Doom Striders and Torn Asunder are Bastion Press, not Mongoose. We do _other_ cool stuff.

What Authors Have Most Inspired Your Campaign?

Another vote for Sepulchrave here. For my Eberron campaigns, I'm drawing on China Mieville, Lovecraft, Randall Garrett and Tim Powers.

House Medani Detection Office:The Lady in Blue (Updated 12-03-05)

I'm enjoying this too. It's very close to what I want to do in one of my Eberron games.

Elegant adventure by Mike Mearls at Monte's

I started running this last night, hastily converted to Eberron. Fun game.

Now that you have Eberron - will you run it?

Bought it and definitely running at least one campaign in the near future. Possibly two. Large chunks of it feel like a brain-dump from my own head.

Hmm. I started by doing a little bit of freelancing on Nobilis and Blue Planet, both of which I got as a result of doing stuff for cons. In around July of 2002, I made a serious effort to get published and build up a side career in freelancing. I got gigs with AEG, Atlas, FFG and White Wolf...

(Mongoose) Book of the Planes - Out Now!

Glark. Ah well - most campaigns won't involve random rolls of Time, anyway, so it's not the worst mistake I can imagine. :-)

All the Quint IIs are standalone as far as I'm aware - you don't need the earlier book.

(Mongoose) Book of the Planes - Out Now!

The write-up of each trait has little pithy descriptions of the effects each level has on the plane. The funky bit is that you can alter these traits. If, say, a necromancer wanted to turn the whole world into a land of undeath, he could collect energy from the Negative Plane and infuse it into...

(Mongoose) Book of the Planes - Out Now!

Yeah. A high-Arcane or high-Green trait will allow casters to get 'free' metamagic, for example, and means that there will be far more naturally occuring wizards and sorcerers or druids among the folk of that plane. A high-Fire trait will boost fire-type spells. A low-Accessibilty means that...

(Mongoose) Book of the Planes - Out Now!

The inner planes are wholly compatible. The outer planes from MotP aren't open content, to the Book of the Planes has different outer planes. Most of them are still compatible enough to be inserted as regions or layers in a WotC plane, but can also be used on their own. The Book of the Planes...

    "Lord of Light" RPG?

Lord of Light was one of the primary inspirations for Nobilis. You could come at the game another way, and use Exalted or a superhero system. It depends on how you want to model the abilities of the characters. Awesome book, though, and well worth reading.
