    Hidden = Invis???

    That's the crazy thing, there isn't a clear cut rule on this anywhere that I can find. Heck, even Song and Silence doesn't explicitly state it...but it comes a bit closer. "...you can sneak up and attack before he or she sees you." p. 37 So basically you catch you opponent unaware. Still...

    Hidden = Invis???

    I agree compleltely. Now, can anyone help with some specific page references from any of the source books? My DM would like some "proof". :D

    Hidden = Invis???

    Re: Hiding is NOT invisibility... "Infinitely"?? I don't think so. SRD: http://www.wizards.com/d20/files/srdskillsii.rtf "A Spot check result of greater than 20 can generally let the character become aware of an invisible creature near the character (though the character can't actually see...

    Hidden = Invis???

    I know I've seen this one before... Out of curiousity, how do you guys handle hidden characters? My DM is having serious doubts about whether Hide is equivalent to Invisible. Hidden = 100% Concealment = 50% miss chance Invisibility = 100% concealment = 50% miss chance. So, the question...

    Yup, just give the invisible rogue a +20 to his hide check...

    Hide Skill?

    A Spot check result of greater than 20 can generally let the character become aware of an invisible creature near the character (though the character can't actually see it). So, if an invisible character wants to move about undetected, he still has to win an opposed MS/Listen check. His...

    Hide Skill?

    We've had this exact same discussion in our group. Invisibility = 100% concealment = 50% miss chance. Hidden = 100% concealment = 50% miss chance. Song and Silence covers the missle attack from hidding scenario. Basically the attacker can make a single attack and then re-hide at a -20 to his...

    Feat Question: Quicker than the Eye

    It is equivalent to the Gladiator's ability to bluff as a move-equivalent rather than a standard action. Either way, you feint and then poke 'em where it hurts...

    Full defense question.....

    That's nice and all, but it still doesn't fit with how I see the Total Defense action working. The description states that "all you do is move." Just Move = NO AoO. You're trying not to be hit, not waiting for an opening against your opponent. You're not paying attention so that you can hit...

    far shot and spells

    It's pretty straight forward... SRD: Benefit: When the character uses a projectile weapon, such as a bow, its range increment increases by one-half (multiply by 1.5). When the character uses a thrown weapon, its range increment is doubled. ...PROJECTILE WEAPON... get's 1.5 x distance...

    Full defense question.....

    That simply doesn't make sense. *If* you threaten an area when using Total Defense, *why* is your AoO modifier the same if you were using the Fighting Defensively action? You get a higher AC bonus from using TD (+4) vs the FD (+2), so shouldn't your attack modifier be different? It's really a...

    Full defense question.....

    You're getting your concepts mixed up here. You have Total Defense and Fighting Defensively. TD -- +4 AC and you can only move. No attack action required FD -- +2 AC, -4 BAB, and from the SRD: "A combatant can choose to fight defensively when taking the attack action. If a combatant does...

    Full defense question.....

    That's the kicker...there are none!! I'd vote that TotalDefense means you don't get AoO...I'd also vote that TD means you're not threatening any squares. *ALL* you do is move and avoid getting hit... If you want to get AoO and threaten squares, then Fight Defensively...if you don't want to...

    Retry on open locks?

    Failed OL = broken...no way. Take 20 on a OL roll...sure thing. It will simply take you the 2 minutes to open that lock instead of the 6 seconds for a natural 20 roll. Failure means you don't succeed at opening the lock. It *may* mean you trigger a trap...not necesarrily that you DO trigger it.

    Hide in plain sight - overly powerful?

    No shadows = no HiPS. That's definitely true. So, as you point out, it's all about whether there are shadows in the dark or not. *I'd* say that complete darkness = complete shadow. *I'd* define a shadow as an area with less or no light.

    Concealment and Reach

    WRT Concealment... If the monster is not aware the enemy is there, he can't attack them. So, with 100% concealment you get a 50% miss chance. If the monster knows a PC is moving through one of it's threatened squares, it could take a swing at it. Maybe an opposed move silently/listen roll...

    Spell Question: Phantasmal Killer

    I've never really been very big on spell casters...I usually play a run in and beat the crap out of them fighter type, so I'm not as up on good spell combinations as I probably should be... Thanks guys

    Spell Question: Phantasmal Killer

    SRD Quote: Only the spell’s subject can see the phantasmal killer. The character see only a shadowy shape. The subject first gets a Will save to recognize the image as unreal. If the subject fails, the phantasm touches him, and he must succeed at a Fortitude save or die from fear. Even if the...

    Hide in plain sight - overly powerful?

    Hmm...I don't see where it specifically states that *THERE IS A PENALTY* either. Your arguement can be used against you...and is thus, pointless. Overly powerful? I think not. It's at least an 8th level ability (10 ranks in hide req), will not always work (opposed roll), and can only be...
