Jim Ward still doesnt get it.

*snort* How the hell am I supposed to maintain a proper pointless, inflammatory argument if you AGREE??????????? I swear, some people.............

Jim Ward still doesnt get it.

Ok, you know as well as I do that this is completely pointless. Arguing "You think THAT'S bad? Well look at THIS!!" will just lead to ever-increasing one-upsmanship that serves no point. There was an example in an old Dragon mag of Saints, and what they did to become saints. One of them...

Jim Ward still doesnt get it.

Happily. From Slave Pits of the Goblin King, paraphrased: The characters, during the course of this adventure, can gain abilities from the "essences" of dragons. Keeping in mind this adventure is billed as an adventure for 4-6 characters of 5-9th level, here are some examples of these...

    Raleigh/Cary, NC - seeking game

I'm looking for a group in the Raleigh/Cary area, for DnD 3E. Preferably, an experienced group that knows and uses the rules well, with a mix of RP and action. I'm mostly available Sunday and Monday nights, as I'm on a rotating schedule. :(

Number of characters killed in one night

My pain can finally be told.............. This is long, but it pays off in the end. Last year, I made up an elven barbarian character for a setting my friend was running. It was sort of a frontier/Last of the Mohicans type thing, and the elves were sort of like the indians. So this...

    Narnia d20?

Heh. Have you ever seen Shadowlands? There's an amusing scene where his colleagues are ribbing him about the "hidden meaning" of the boy pushing through the coats, what with all that fur..........

What sort of customer service do you want from your local game store?

One that doesn't wrap all his/her RPG merchandise in plastic. One that doesn't treat his customers like absolute garbage, to the point of asking people sorting through his hundreds of Reaper minis: "Are you going to buy anything?". Blech. Good riddance, Fayetteville.............

    3e & 1e Ad&d/od&d

After 18 years of nearly nothing but DnD, 3E is my holy grail. I consider it nothing short of the natural evolution of a stumbling system into an actual rpg. I would never go back. That way lies madness.

(POLL) Rules Light vs. Rules Heavy systems

I prefer rules-heavy, although I see why people call 3E "rules-light" or "medium", since far more complex systems such as Champions or Rolemaster exist. I classify 3E as rules-heavy, and I like it that way. It gives the players something to work with, and a foundation to stand on in the greater...

    Killed by Ape

Girallon, definitely. I was slaughtered by the fiendish one in RttToEE, and did the slaughtering with the same one in the same module. I realized it's effectiveness then, when it was the first thing to seriously damage the half-dragon with it's rend.....*shudder* Filthy apes :p

A whole new way of looking at RttToEE (some spoilers)

That rocks. Keep us updated, Apok! It'll be interesting to see how well your characters can sow strife......and if Tharzidun's servants notice.....

Decipher's Lord of the Rings RPG - A Review

I just have to chime in with my .02, here, I have this book, and it was well worth the money. Col_H is righton with his review. The character creation is *extremely* flexible, and there are many similarities to d20 that I liked. The variety of characters you can create was the biggest...

The Abyss: Infinite or 666 layers?

I prefer the 666 layers. Then again, I'm ornery.

What do your heroes do when they're not adventuring?

Hmm............ Most of Mulkhoran's downtime is spent quietly recruiting. Someday, he will have an army. And then, they will *all* pay................ Seriously, I try to raise armies. I don't know if that qualifies as downtime, though...........

I need Side Trek ideas to put adventure back on track, quick

*deeeep breath* Ok, this is a bit out there, but: You could have them see a fight between a mage and a half-dragon at the side of the road. When they intervene or investigate, they find out that the half-dragon is the spurned freak-child of one of the local villages, and is trying to recover...

(OT sort of) Help dealing with a player over the edge

This is exactly my point. People trying to adjudicate when someone else needs counseling. Involuntary counseling is usually useless, and forcing someone into it does more harm than good. I'd look for signs he was going to do harm to himself or others, the tried and true mechanic for counselors...

(OT sort of) Help dealing with a player over the edge

To those of you saying that those of us saying that "He's not hurting anyone" is not a valid point, and that we should assume that this is just the beginning of an unhealthy slide into unreality, and he's going to kill himself, and all sorts of other pleasant conjecture: How many of you are...

XP costs --- not a problem!

So......functionally, he is giving them a discount. Nice of you, remember to point that out if they ever complain. :D As far as the original post, I play a Wiz15/Acm1, and I have Craft Wand and Craft Wondrous Item. Craft Wondrous Item is NOT CHEAP in terms of xp if you want to make something...

(POLL) Rules Light vs. Rules Heavy systems

 Or the AoO thing. "That seems logically flawed, you should be able to move away from someone and do something without them attacking." "Really? Holdon, I'm going to scrap this character and make up a mage......" or on the subject of Mages: DM: "Ok, so you guys got a grand total...
