    [Recruitment/Discussion] Serial Superheroes Game

Guilt Puppy, I can't come up with any equipment that Matt would really need. What he'd probably have would be just his casual clothes, a backpack and some writing and sketching paper, just in case. I really don't see him having all that much money either, so a +8 Wealth Bonus might be a bit...

    Will save redundant?

Ah, I can see the reason for Intimidate being resisted by a Level Check, and even the redundancy of the Will save makes more sense now. I was just thrown off by the Will save's description in the d20 Modern book, which stated that it is mainly used against FX abilities and mind-influencing...

(humor) Ok ... in D&D 3.5, who wins, the Commoner or the Housecat?

How about dogs, then? They can deal 1d6+1 damage with their bite attack alone, and trip the poor commoner at the same time. If the poor commoner survives the initial assault he'll still be prone and at the dog's mercy. Now, this begs the question: who would win in a fair fight, a cat or a dog...

[d20 Modern] The "In Character" Character game Part Two

"Dogbirds, eh?" says Patrik, as Rifa disappears behind the countless cages. I might be getting a dog with wings. A dog with wings. Dog. With. Wings. he thinks. Yup, I've certainly gone insane, but what's it matter...

    Will save redundant?

If you are using a basic modern setting with no FX, will this make the Will save completely useless? At the moment the only application of the save is resisting some of the Charismatic Hero's talents (captivate, dazzle, taunt), using of some Insightful Hero talents (aware and intuition)...

[d20 Modern] The "In Character" Character game Part Two

"Oh, I'll just have a look around the store, if that's okay." says Patrik, waiting for Mario to finish his shopping. I've always wanted a magical pet, and now that I'm in a store full of 'em I can't decide which one to get. he thinks to himself. His eyes suddenly brighten when he remembers a...

    Urban Arcana's new mgic system

Hate to break it to you, but the magic system hasn't changed at all from d20 Modern. The only addition is the Incantations, which are really powerful spells that can be cast by anyone with the proper knowledge. Using them usually requires subsequent successes at Knowledge (arcane lore) checks...

    Bullet points: Cool Under Fire

It's a pretty good mechanic, but as the author said it's only good for certain games. I'd use it in a, say, high-realism Second World War setting.

questions pertaining to urban arcana, shadowkind, and starting feats

What, what, whaaat?! Okay, I think we have a serious balance issue here. If the Shadowkind with no ECL only lose out on a few Skill Points, why play a human? You can get all the feats, plus a whole bunch of special abilities to boot!

The new munchkin race of choice is . . .

Bariaurs get +2 Str and -2 Cha. Not the Munchkin Race of Choice, but a very formidable race indeed. It's odd that you don't see them played too often. Now, Githzerai can be easily munchkinised. With their high Wis and Dex bonuses, plus Inertial Armor to boot, a Githzerai Monk is nigh impossible...

[d20 Modern] The "In Character" Character game Part Two

Patrik walks into the store named Magical Menagerie with Mario, and looks around. "Er, yeah, hi Rifa... I'm Patrik, and I'm looking for, um, animals... I guess I've found the right shop." he says a bit nervously. He looks around the shop at all the mundane animals. "Um, do you have anything...

    Plastic Wotc Minis pics

The sculpting's okay, but to me they look like they've been painted by blind kender high on crack. Well, no that bad, but you get the point. I might get some, but I'll hafta repaint them... :p

questions pertaining to urban arcana, shadowkind, and starting feats

What Ranger REG said, but I believe that Shadowkind only get one starting feat as opposed to humans getting two. But in addition to the one starting feat that Shadowkind get they also receive their racial starting feats... Haven't seen how it works in play, but there seems to be a serious...

[d20 Modern] The "In Character" Character game Part Two

Patrik goes on to exchange all of his pocket money into magical currency. It's not like I'm going to need any of it afterwards. he thinks. He then struts down the alley, looking for something neat to buy.

So, here I am on Diagon Alley. Patrik thinks. Diagon :):):):)ing Alley from Harry :):):):)ing Potter. Now I'm certain that I'm going insane... no, wait, I've been certain of that for years. So maybe I've gone insane now... Patrik glances around the stores, and sees the shop named Magical...
