(humor) Ok ... in D&D 3.5, who wins, the Commoner or the Housecat?

How about dogs, then? They can deal 1d6+1 damage with their bite attack alone, and trip the poor commoner at the same time. If the poor commoner survives the initial assault he'll still be prone and at the dog's mercy.

Now, this begs the question: who would win in a fair fight, a cat or a dog? (in D&D 3.5, I mean)

This, of course, begs the question: would the cat fight fair? :D

Entering the realm of reality for a minute, cats do occasionally freak out and attack some poor human, and the human usually ends up going to the hospital. Just little bundles of fur, teeth, claws and instinct.

But the cat doesn't cause lethal damage, just lots of bleeding and scars. Meanwhile, I imagine the human could kill the damn thing if he/she could get it unhooked from his/her face.

So I think cats ought to deal subdual damage or temporary CHA ability damage. Or both.

Yes, but this would never happen! You see Dogs are loyal to their owners and would protect them and stuff. Hmm, wait a minute, if the fact that dogs could beat cats in a fight and the owners could sick them on the catlords got out.... OH NO!!!

WE MUST WARN THE CATLORDS!!

No they don't. Dogs don't have the trip ability in 3e. That's wolves (and hyenas). And a dog only does 1d4+1 damage, 1d6+1 is for wolves. ;)

Oh yeah. I've probably seen that exact screen before. Except I turn on the most excellent color graphics.

There's nothing more embarrasing on your tombstone than: Level 1 killed by a kitten.

I'm trying to imagine the commoner walking into the room and being scratched unconscious by a houscat in 6 seconds....
