Housecat wins - Intimidation, number of attacks, surprise attack, attacking from shadow/under things/above, allergy, cat scratch fever, speed, small target, night vision and attached wizard. Commoner is out.

Ouch!

True, its not a full grown commoner, but it gives you an idea of how deadly a cat could be in a fight :)

Ao the Overkitty has spoken, and it would appear that the cats have the upper hand. :D

Ao's party consisted of:

Bard, 2nd level
Rogue, 2nd level
Bard/Sorcerer 1st/1st level
Fighter/Rogue 1st/1st level

They fought a dozen housecats, and were nearly wiped out.

Given that example, I would think a poor Commoner would have quite a problem with even a single Housecat ...

even with the AoO for entering the Commoners space to make attacks and the reduction of damage. the cat has a high AC and will hit more often than the Commoner. the Commoner is toast.

weapon sizing for 3.5ed won't change damage by the cat.

"You've obviously never had a cat go after your privates with both sets of claws after you get out of the shower and bend over looking for the deodorant. Sweet, sweet unconsciousness..."

Oh, lawd, been there - standing at the toilet one hungover morning and "Snowball" decided that if I could play with it, she could too. Nothing more inspiring - I managed to reach the ceiling without bending my knees. "No coffee today guys, thanks, I'm fine..."

I'm thinking the problem is that the Commoners aren't using/have yet to find the right tools for the job ... namely burlap bags, large rocks, and a river. >=)

Then Bennie gave the cat to a man who had a bomb,
When he took the cat away, she was acting cool and calm,
And then the bomb exploded, it made an awful sound,
They searched and searched for ages but the man was never found.

But...

... the cat came back, she wouldn't stay away,
She was sitting on the porch the very next day,
The cat came back, she didn't want to roam,
The very next day it was Home, Sweet Hoooo-ome...
