Which team will win Super Bowl XXXIX?

I'm not sure if that was a serious question or not, but no, New York is definately not part of New England. Occassionally you hear folks pretending that some areas of Upstate NY are part of New England, but in my opinion it's analogous to people pretending that Canada is part of the U.S.

GM'S DAY 2005 One Month to go!!

What am I doing for GM's Day? Probably nothing. I'm sure none of my players are even aware of GM's day, and somehow I wouldn't feel quite right telling them "yeah there's this new holiday invented by some folks on the internet, and now you guys have to buy me some gaming stuff." Plus, March...

    Life After RttToEE

I'm assuming by all of your references that you're running Greyhawk. If so, you might check out Carl Sargent's material Iuz the Evil, City of Skulls, and The Marklands. In my opinion, his stuff has been very unfairly maligned. It would be a great source of info for a war based campaign...

    Need A Dwarven City Map

I'm pretty sure that it's the same maps that he already has. They appeared first in Axe of the Dwarvish Lords and were later posted free to the website. That is assuming that we're talking about the ones that have a lot of blue in them. The old FR module Under Illefarn has some cool dwarven...

A survey on player choice... or taste... or something...

I don't think any of my players would want to use it unless we were running an oriental campaign* and they're character was a ninja. I can't see other people wanting to use it for other rogues anyway, but maybe that's just me. *and we're not, and never have.

Humans - Most Powerful Race in 3e?

I'm very happy with the races in 3/3.5e. I love that versatilty is the human's schtick. Does everything balance out exactly? I'm not sure. But it promotes humans as the default choice, which reflects campaign realities (at least in most campaigns, including mine), while the other races are...

Does your DM roll behind a screen or head to head?

Maybe if you totally botch it you'd be aware, but I don't think anything is definate, Okay, I lied a bit. I often let me players make their own rolls when its easier for me, but I have no hesitation about doing it secretly if I don't want to tip my hand to the players that there's something...

Does your DM roll behind a screen or head to head?

Your poll is flawed in the sense that you're asking if we do (a) roll behind the screen or (b) in front of the players, yet the answers aren't set up for a/b, they're set up for yes or no. That said, I can go either way. I definately roll behind the screen (or at least out of sight) for secret...

Mordenkainen's Fantastic Adventure - your experiences?

Killing Mordenkainen on purpose is not part of this adventure, but he's presented for use as a PC, so it could be that they played him and got him killed. At any rate, I'm pretty sure that Mordenkainen is neutral, not good.

Mordenkainen's Fantastic Adventure - your experiences?

I read this module for the first time last week, and read the the Dungeon version at the same time along with it. The new version was definately an improvement, just because it was fleshed out a little more not 'cause I had anything against the original. At any rate, I'd definately say it...

    'Known World' - OD&D

I'm not sure, but I thought that the show was not set in any of the official worlds. At any rate, I wouldn't give much credence to the fact that one of the magazines says he's in the Horned Society. People and places have been moved from campaign to campaign before. For example, the recent...

    Expanded gaming spending poll.

Okay, how about you start -- what kind of dollars do you spend? ;) I spend U.S. dollars. I estimated $600-$1,000. I try to keep myself to roughly $80 a month, though I don't keep accurate count. With minis, it's possible that I went a bit over the $1,000 mark last year, but I'm guessing...

    requiring players to buy books

I don't require the players to buy anything, but I encourage them to buy at least a PHB. Generally, people playing spellcasters do so, people playing warriors don't, and everyone else can go either way. This works out well enough for me, as we end up with several copies at the table, so the...

    DDM - collected Deathknell previews

Probably because the rares and uncommons are the cool minis that will actually make you want to buy packs. The commons are often useful enough for gathering hordes, but they're not usually the minis that make you say "oooh, I want that one".
