    Obsidian Portal down??????

Been down all day for me as well. Their twitter feed hasn't been updated in over a year and their facebook page isn't much more current. Hoping that it's not a super long (or permanent) outage.

    Swarm of Death Scarabs

Hey Guys--looking for feedback on this first draft of a conversion of this swarm, originally found in the 3.5 splatbook Sandstorm Pardon the partially-removed XML, I had worked up the conversion while on the go in the excellent GameMaster 5 app on my iPad, then exported the data to my computer...

Chicago Gameday 42 is October 17 at Games Plus in Mt. Prospect, IL

Huge thanks as always to our hosts, Games Plus, as well as our illustrious organizer, buzz! Extra special thanks to buzz for providing a prize to my table: a shiny new copy of the Feng Shui 2 core book!!! To my players, thanks for an amazing game in the morning! I realized on the drive home...

I suck--this should have been done ages ago. Here ya go, buzz: Title: Shadow of the Future of the Apes! Game System: Feng Shui 2 (note, this is the sample adventure in the core rulebook) Content Rating: Kid-friendly-ish. There’s nothing inherently more risqué than anything you’d see in a bad...

Chicago Gameday 42 is October 17 at Games Plus in Mt. Prospect, IL

Let's try this again since I missed half of last gameday! Feng Shui 2. Morning Slot. 6 players. Good chance I'll be running the sample adventure in the rulebook with a few twists here and there until I get the new rules under my belt, but don't hold me to that--I'll get a more detailed blurb up...

Chicago Gameday 41 is July 11th: run an event or come to play!

Unfortunately, I've just been informed by my wife of a conflict in the evening when I had agreed to run a slot. I *may* be able to make it in the morning, but unfortunately I'm gonna have to bow out of running a game this time around. I'm sorry for the late notice :(

Lock me in for Feng Shui 2. I don't yet have a blurb but I'll work on that!

I'd be interested in playing any of these systems to try them out. In general, games with a bit lighter rule sets seem to go over better at game days in my experience. (Unless you're running something intentionally difficult like Synnibar.)

Chicago Gameday 41 is July 11th: run an event or come to play!

Let me snag an afternoon slot. Not sure what I'm running quite yet. I'm mulling over a few options: -Feng Shui 2 -Numenera -TimeWatch

    D&D 4E Converting 4e monsters?

Pardon the thread necromancy, but I've been looking for something like the documents you created and linked right there for months, and now I finally found some more current guidelines to base my work converting some 4e critters to 5e off of. Well done, JEB! Thanks!

D&D 5E Quintessential Starting Campaign for a group of new, young players.

Shattered Circle is great, though I'm not sure I'd use it as an intro for younger players necessarily. It's mostly dungeon crawl, whereas B2 or Phandelver sort of allow for a wider variety of stuff to do.

D&D 5E Quintessential Starting Campaign for a group of new, young players.

Yet another vote for B2--it's how I got my start. The 5e Starter set is phenomenal as well.

    D&D 5E Attacking a Creature Engulfing A PC (or in a Grapple, I suppose)

This is exactly the kind of simple I was looking for--annoyed I missed this during my flip through the books. Thank you! And thanks to everyone for the consideration and replies!

    D&D 5E Attacking a Creature Engulfing A PC (or in a Grapple, I suppose)

Howdy folks! I've flipped through the core books a few times in search of an answer, but can't seem to find any guidance, so I'm wondering how everyone else is ruling it at the table. Take a look at a monster like the Darkmantle (which I'm using as a base for the delightfully creepy Skin Kite...

    Deluxe Dungeon Master's Screen

5 out of 5 rating for Deluxe Dungeon Master's Screen As others have mentioned, a solid, well-built cardboard affair with very nice artwork both outside as well as inside--which I find to be a nice touch. While several have griped about the inclusion of an entire panel (or more) being devoted to...

D&D 5E How Deadly is a "deadly" encounter, on average?

Aha! That seems to make a bit more sense. We'll find out tomorrow for certain!

D&D 5E How Deadly is a "deadly" encounter, on average?

The set-up for a fight is definitely key. My BBEG fight was in a big wide open room / evil temple and there was way too much room to maneuver.

D&D 5E How Deadly is a "deadly" encounter, on average?

Re number 2: I was taking the group size into consideration with the math. (The asmor link does this automatically I think, and I found a spreadsheet that does similar xp calculations automatically) That's kind of what I was thinking given the boosted ability scores, but I wasn't confident...

D&D 5E How Deadly is a "deadly" encounter, on average?

I'm whipping up some encounters for my next session (so my players stay out!), and while I realize we've got some guidelines from the basic DM rules (and the very cool asmor online generator others have been linking of late-- http://asmor.com/5e/monsters/#/encounter-builder ), I'm curious to see...
