    Poll about gamers and drugs

No drugs for me or my gaming group, but then we're hardly a typical group (we're all real life clergy). Not too many evil PCs either;) I like my brain too much to do anything to seriously harm it.

    Fast Forward: Treasure Quests

First let me echo the positive comments made here already. This book gives some nice compact scenarios and ideas for many game sessions to come. One small nitpick--the map and keyed paragraphs don't line up in a couple of cases. The Orc Tunnels (Link 1C) seems to have the items listed in...

    geek dating again...

More conspiracy evidence?? Odd that a fair number had Niels Bohr as favorite physicist. Not that he's a bad choice, mind you, just there were very few other choices ever listed. None had my favorite, Richard Feynman (yeah, I know he was a bit of a self-aggrandizer, but entertaining and still...

Speaking of Inns, how abut some fun names for them?

Why, the advertising jingles for these fine establishments practically write themselves :)

Speaking of Inns, how abut some fun names for them?

--Bear Biter's Pub (drunken dwarf got into fight with bear outside and bit it several times before killing it--man bites dog?) --Roc's Roost --Fat Garrick's Pubhouse --Happy Stoats --The Drum and Trout

How to create your very own demiplane...

where the Dr. Pepper flows freely and They Might Be Giants play all night long, and everyone at Club Obi-Wan knows your name. I was flipping through MotP and in the section on demiplanes it mentions that arcane and divine spells can create them, but it did not list the particular spells that do...

I heard the d20 Comic the other night and he was HILARIOUS!! I never heard so many "Why did the beholder cross the street" jokes! ;)

[CRPGs] I have found the Nirvana of CRPGs!

I'm disturbed by whoever it is buying those kobold "units". Shudder. Why doesn't 3E have rules for studded lace armor??

Do you base your fantasy names on real-world language?

I don't usually pair up a real world language with a specific race so much as a particular culture and region. Using a known language can be a good way to maintain a consistent feel for a group of people, though my personal preference is to tweak everything so that it isn't too familiar (there...

    [FDP] Beyond All Reason!

Any chance of having counters for a module available at your site for us to print out ourselves? It would allow module-specific counters to be available at low(er) cost. I'll second what others have said--love them counters.

thread on WotC D&D pricing strategies

Very interesting and informative. That was good stuff, Purple. And Ryan's a model of patient civility and restraint. As far as I am concerned, RPGs are the best entertainment value out there. Not to start another war over a SKR rant, but his rant on "Why RPGs are not too expensive" is right...

Since Gen Con is moving to Indiana, what will Wisconsin be left with?

We'll have to console ourselves with lots of beer, brats and cheese. Mmmmm, cheese... On the other hand, it really does stink.

Need names for countries and Kingdoms

A good source if you want more off-beat or unfamiliar names would be phrasebooks/dictionaries for uncommon foreign languages. People might recognize French or German names, but yank something from Uzbek or Estonian and it's just strange and cool. I've "made" dozens of names from my Berlitz...

    ideas needed

Let them kill the guy who was going to give them a really nice paying job. Make the guy an agent of the king (or whatever) and when they show up for the job but the agent does not (for he was to bring back the hirees)--heap o' trouble. No job and money; arrested/executed/on the run from the...

    Sean Reynolds rant about terminology

    1. I call it pop, though my college roommate was a Texan who called everything Coke. So I'd always ask him for a Pepsi Coke:D 2. Further off topic--It's a bubbler, and not a water fountain.;) 3. Back on topic--more precise use of language would save the Sage a few questions each month...
