    slow vs. boots of speed

the answer is quite simple to me. It would blow all of the rounds of haste from the boots to use it to counter slow. boots of speed have a caster level of 10. That's where you get the 10 rounds from, being able to not have to use the 10 rounds consecutively is just a boon from them being a magic...

    Caster level question

pretty sure paladin caster levels are half of the paladin levels, ie... 10th level paladin casts as a 5th level caster. Not sure about this one, no books around to check. templar caster levels are the templar's levels, ie... 5th level templar casts as a 5th level caster.

Can a spellcaster choose to do less?

This would prolly be a house rule but I personally don't see why not. Just that if you scaled down the range of a spell or AoE of a spell then everything else would get scaled down to the appropriate range also. Ie... 9th level sor casts fireball but wants to do only 3d6, that fireball would be...

    Point Buy Recommendations

no point buy is a good point buy. Can't stand point buy personally. I like how I roll my dice. But anyways I think it's a point for point basis until 14, then it's 6 for for a 15, 8 for a 16, 12 for a 17, and 16 for an 18. I think, mostly sure about it costing 16 points for an 18, and know it is...

Need a statistic major's help here...

*places 20 down on 8 the hard way and another 15 on 54 on the hop* =o) sorry, the 2d6 reply and the amount of chances to roll a 7 just make me miss craps so bad. been ages since I went to a casino.

People who always start a campaign at level 1: Does it ever get boring?

Like Clockworkjoe said, if it's a long term campaign I don't mind starting out at low levels. If it won't be a long term campaign I don't wanna play the low levels. But then again, I don't mind starting a long term campaign at level 10+. Fleshing out the character and all that can be done during...

Does a Death Ward Protect against Phantasmal Killer?

ok, usually I am good at this but if you are using that as an example to prove that santa does not exist then you would be wrong cuz going by that example he would exist. It's called Bell's theorem. the wonderful seamless whole. wow, I just used quantum physics to prove santa exists!!!!

Does a Death Ward Protect against Phantasmal Killer?

different words and different meanings, but same words with the same meanings. You just rearranged the words a bit is all. It all means the same thing. Changing a verb or noun into an adverb gives it a completely different use of the context. My last point still stands. The quote above doesn't...

Does a Death Ward Protect against Phantasmal Killer?

I still say it's the mixing up of the words affect and effect. Death is the affect of a disintigration effect. Since the effect was not death, it obviously isn't a death effect. Now let's take finger of death. Death is the affect of a death effect. Now this is a death effect well because...

Does a Death Ward Protect against Phantasmal Killer?

Who is using logic? I actually don't see any being used.

Does a Death Ward Protect against Phantasmal Killer?

I think the main cause of confusion for deathward is the whole effect part. People too often get it confused with affect. I can go into tons of detail here but just look up the definitions for each and it will probably shed some light on the situation. It's what cleared the whole deathward thing...

Dragon with Blindsight see exactly what an invisible pc is doing?

It's a dragon. =o) It knows what is going on 10' away from it. Hell, it knows what is going on 200' away from it. =o)

How a DM can counter cheesy PC tactics w/o using cheesy DM tactics.

The way I always thought of blindsight is that you can basically get a general shape of an object but not pinpoint enough to do sneak attacks since to do a sneak attack you need to be able to determine anatomy a lil bit. Since blindsight just gives you a general shape, it is basically radar cept...

    Shield Spell -- was wondering...

actually AC25 is impossible to get with JUST celestial armor and dex. start out as an elf with max dex and the 3 ability bonuses going into dex. that's a dex of 23, or a +6 mod, chainmail is +5 so 10+6(dex)+5(chainmail)+1(magical enhancement for celestial armor)=22, even if you were a halfthing...

    Shield Spell -- was wondering...

ok, my current 11th level character would need a 7 or better to hit you without even going into a rage or frenzy. add rage and frenzy and it's 2 or better, leaves plenty of room for improved power attack to kick in to cut ya down to size. oops, my bad =o) that's what I get for posting before...

    Shield Spell -- was wondering...

Don't forget that shield has a duration of 1/round a level. This doesn't make it that strong at low levels and when it lasts long enough to actually matter +7ac doesn't really help that much.

Do you think Haste is too powerful as is?

nope, all of those authors have wrote novels about things other then DND. Death Gate Cycle isn't even anything like DND, closest it would be to DND is spelljammer but only cuz there is a ship that travels through space and time and such. Most of these people are well recognized for their DND...
