    [Grim Tales] Muskets

I take it that the high damage capability of the Freeport firearms would be out of the question?

    [Grim Tales] Errata?

Aha, found it! Critical miss on a jump check leaves you crippled.

    [Grim Tales] Muskets

Yeah, I was going to make the range increment pretty small. Maybe something of the order of 20ft for pistols...

    [Grim Tales] Muskets

Hi. My next campaign will feature flintlock pistols and smoothbore longarms in a quasi-Warhammer style. My variants will be: * Armour = Fewer Dead Heroes * MDT = Con * Personal Firearms is an Exotic WP feat What calibre/damage should they be? I'm trying to keep them worth spending a feat on...

    WH40Kd20?

Uh, wouldn't it be easier to play Inquisitor? (I'm only half joking)

    Am I a "Needy" DM? ;)

I organise a game every 2 weeks, for about 6 hours a session. However, if one of us can't make it, the session is cancelled. This makes for less lame excuses, IMO.

    HELP! Horror checks

I disagree. The Horror check doesn't go up in DC as the PCs level up - it only goes up when the Encounter Level is above what the PCs can handle (so they SHOULD be frightened). I use the standard Wisdom modifier only. If the heroes want to be safe, they can run away :) (also, I considered...

    [Grim Tales] Errata?

Uh, falling, I think. Possibly something to do with massive damage/heal checks too, IIRC>

    [Grim Tales] Errata?

Thanks, Wulf! Oh, another thing: is there really meant to be a difference between holding your breath under suffocation and holding your breath underwater? One allows =CON rounds before taking suffocation subdual damage, but the other allows 2xCON rounds for essentially the same situation...

    [Grim Tales] Errata?

Hi. Is there any errata or suggestions for Grim Tales? I bought the book a week ago, but there's a few things that look awry: * Melee smash vs ignore hardness - why would you ever choose the latter? * Improved Caster Level - this seems, er, strong? ...and possibly others that I have missed.

waxing philosophical on "low magic" versus "high fantasy"

Looks like you're trying to recreate a 'fairytale' setting - wondrous items, events and settings, but not magic as a universal tool.

Campaign Setting that would work nice with Grim Tales?

The Warhammer setting is really good for Grim Tales. I'm ebaying for the parts of The Enemy Within campaign; can't wait until I can subject my players to the political and diabical intrigues of the Old World...

    How evil is evil?

I saw a poster a while back who had the idea that a good alignment followed from a Good destiny and vice versa. The idea was that someone who was good enough to set off a Detect Good spell was (at that point in time) destined to do more good things than evil things in the balance of their life...

Creepy Player Habits - WARNING: reading may require a Sanity Check!

You're too nice. If it happened to me, I'd slap his hand away. If he didn't get the hint, I'd slap his forehead away.

Tell Me About The Miniatures Industry

They haven't really. Games Workshop as a whole has made bumper profits over the last couple of years, but GW US has lagged behind a lot, even after raising prices 2 or 3 times over that period. I think it has to do with GW US' goal to kill of independent retailers (including US-based web...

Grim Tales and Unearth Arcana spell point system...

Seems like the easiest way to up the magic level of a GT game is to retain the feat that adds +1 hardness vs magical ability drain. Average 1st-level smart hero with 16 intelligence can get hardness 3. By 6th level, he should be able to increase the hardness by another 3 by burning feats...

Hi. Do metamagic feats work with the GT magic system?

    D&D has threatened my job!

Oh, and thank you d20fool for this topic. It has been quite enlightening, especially for someone who doesn't live in the USA. I was raised in a small town, but evidently not as conservative as the one in which you are living.

    D&D has threatened my job!

That's up to every individual to decide, don't you think? Not everyone's cut out to water the tree of Liberty with their blood, never mind the tree of Roleplaying Freedom. Besides, d20fool has already indicated that it's not just him that will be affected; it's his wife and her work that would...

    D&D has threatened my job!

Sounds like your Principal, while not exactly backing you up, at least gave you the opportunity to CYA. You know how insular small towns are; you need to convince at least some of the parents of the kids you game with that it's an acceptable pastime. You won't be able to convince them all, but...
