Player going away for a few weeks - suggestions

Good point. Currently the party of 4, the player going away (the ranger), a rogue, a priest and a warrior wizard type are tracking down a rogue wizard. I have the next few sessions planed out when they try to find the rogue and instead stumble across another wizard who is in the process of...

Player going away for a few weeks - suggestions

So one of my players is heading home to the States for a few weeks and I need some good ideas for what happens to her character during that time. Basically I don't want her to be kidnapped as it's a little too obvious, but I keep hitting a blank when I think of what else to do. Any thoughts or...

    Help! - character very poisoned

Oh I want to say that to him so bad! *evil grin* :]

Your favorite reverse-cliche character type (or other game element)?

A barbarian/wizard. I've always wanted to play a barbarian who was driven out of his home due to his love of books.

    Help! - character very poisoned

Yeah good point. I'll suggest that to the player. And yes, it is Siege of the Spider Eaters.

    Help! - character very poisoned

Good point. After some thinking I'm letting him regain 2 str points due to rest and there is a scroll of lesser restoration in the cave system that the cleric can cast. So he won't be great, but at least he'll be ok. From a pure enjoyment point of view. It isn't any fun for the player to be...

    Help! - character very poisoned

And I still don't think he'll want to get into melee. However the party is in the middle of a very hostile situation and if he can walk he is likely to find him self in a fight sooner rather than later. So I think I'll just make sure he has access to a bow and hope for the best! Thanks for all...

    Help! - character very poisoned

Totally, it's just that 2 str isn't so useful in a fight and I wanted a little bit of a buffer zone in case he gets bit again.

    Help! - character very poisoned

Huh? What I meant was that the other players wouldn't be too concerned if this particular PC died. But killing an actual player? Nothing, other than the price of fish ;)

    Help! - character very poisoned

To be honest most of the other PCs don't really like the PC who is currently laying on a bed unable to move. But I'd like to at least give the PC a chance.

    Help! - character very poisoned

Nothing wrong wth them. I just had it in my mind that they couldn't be made into potions. Don't ask me why. That is of course another option.

    Help! - character very poisoned

Actually they are. I'm using the low level adventure from last (?) months Dungeon magazine. Basically a bunch of spiders have attacked an isolated little town that the PCs were forced to come to. So no other dead adventurers.

    Help! - character very poisoned

Hmm... the only arcane spell caster doesn't have that spell, but that would be kind of funny :heh:

    Help! - character very poisoned

I thought about that, but decided that I want them to at least get into the tunnels before killing him. It seems to be rather lacking in dignity to have him die on the bed, strength gone and unable to defend himself. I think I'm being a bit of a softy. It's my first campaign after all.

    Help! - character very poisoned

Hmmm, great idea. I think I can work with that. Thanks.

    Help! - character very poisoned

Hi All, I need a little advice. I was running my PCs through a village infested with spiders last week and one of the PCs got bit, a lot. He basically failed all of his saves and was reduced really fast to a strength of 0. Unfortunately the rest of the party want to head off down into the...

    Another Paladin Thread: Throw Rocks!

Yeah I'd have to say so. Even if the orc is evil, it was unarmed and at your mercy. If the paladin's order has sworn to kill every orc on the face of the planet then maybe not, but the lack of mercy and compassion should get the a smack on the wrist if nothing else.

    Encounter advice

Thanks for the advice. I was just feeling a little worried. I've played through those levels a number of times, and even though there have been some very close calls it's very different when you're the one on the other end of encounter.

    Encounter advice

I'm new to DMing and I've been struggling with how to weight my encounters. My characters are all 1st or 2nd level and I really don't want to kill them this early on, but I want them to find the fights exciting. For example last week they were set on by a group of 4 human thugs and the players...
