DCC #35 Contents and First Impressions

Actually, he's played C&C...we were all playtesters. He's no fan. SW is our current game and I've run it almost exclusively for almost 3 years now. We're finishing up Necessary Evil now and then moving on to Deadlands (my favorite setting of all time!). As for the adventure paths, they're...

DCC #35 Contents and First Impressions

I've been debating what I should run this with. I'd use Savage Worlds, as it is my game of choice, but part of me feels that sticking more to D&D roots would give a better feel. I'd run with Rules Cyclopedia, but my players would bemoan the lack of options. I'd run with C&C except one of my...

DCC #35 Contents and First Impressions

I'm fairly certain it's not limited. It's silly enough to do that with a popular adventure. It'd be even sillier with a campaign setting, methinks. According to a post by Joseph Goodman on his own forums they're planning on doing a PDF of the boxed set too.

DCC #35 Contents and First Impressions

There's no crunch in the Gazetteer at all. The GM's guide is where the crunch is at. Sorry, should have been more clear. I'll be happy to answer any specific questions.

DCC #35 Contents and First Impressions

The Gazetteer: This is broken up into seven chapters. The first three cover the areas of the world: The Northlands, Southlands, and Lost Lands. Chapter 4 describes the geographic features of Aerest in detail and Chapter 5 has the details on the multitude of organizations featured in the...

Best Adventure for 1st Level PCs?

Really? At one of the big Living Greyhawk conventions a few months back a group of about 30 of us came to a consensus that this was one of the top 3 worst modules in the last year. I figured it was pretty much universally maligned. To each his own though... My recommendations: The Crucible...

    DCC Known World

My GenCon shopping ninja still has it for me. I'm leaving to pick it up in but a few, short minutes. I'm bristling with anticipation.

    The City of Brass

I've see Kuntz's original draft and I've seen the final draft. 40,000 words is entirely too generous. The original draft is little more than a handful of notes. Knight built on the foundation of Rob's stuff and added a lot of his own flavor, vastly improving the product.

    The City of Brass

Pick up the Kenzer one if you can find it. It rocks on toast and avoids most of the silliness that comes with some Hackmaster products. I'm pretty biased though. My GM wrote it. He's fantastic and so is the book. Rob Kuntz's name may sell more copies, but his input was minimal...which is a...

    Help! I need a creature!

    Good suggestions, thanks all.

    Help! I need a creature!

Sorry, I meant ability damage, not drain.

    Help! I need a creature!

Hey folks, I'm in desperate need of a creature that meets the following criteria: 1) Can damage ability scores, preferably their choice 2) Is not undead 3) Is as low CR as possible. 4) Is from a WOTC book.

    Savage Worlds Quibbles...am I correct?

You're a bit behind on your releases. The other Plot Point books out now are: Necessary Evil: Aliens have invaded earth and the superheroes rushed to repel the attack. And they died. All that's left to save the planet are supervillains. A good supers campaign and an excellent toolkit for...

Song of the Blade [Iron Heroes]

I got it, mainly to deduce how NPCs were handled in IH and I think it's pretty mediocre. This coming from a guy who loves most of Goodman's stuff. The setting is bland as are most of the NPCs. The plot is okay. It does do a really good job of giving you fun locales to fight in, though. For...

    Iron Heroes...what's your opinion?

Aside from the magic system, which even Mearls admits was rushed, the book is nothing except excellent. It's the only d20 product in two years to really grab my imagination and run. Of course, you've got to love combat a bit to enjoy it.

Whispers of the Vampires Blade opinion?

I have everything that's been published so far for Eberron and WotVB is by far and away the worst of the bunch. It's the only bit of material, including the Dragon articles and Dungeon adventures, that I wouldn't use as is. It's very obvious that they decided what 'set piece' encounters they...

    [Eberron] The Legions of Karrnath

Ooooh...how did that escape my (foolproof) thought process?

    [Eberron] The Legions of Karrnath

So here's a question...given the material components required to animate so many zombies and skeletons how would it be possible to raise legions an legions of undead as Karrnath has? I imagine finding that many gems would be a task in and of itself. Now, there's other ways to animate them...

    Hackmaster questions

My Hackmaster group has been playing for just about 2 years now. For nearly 9 months, we adventured at the Little Keep on the Borderlands. For $20, we got what amounts to a fully fleshed out, if small, campaign setting. In the 9 months we adventured there, the GM tells us, we had only seen 75%...
