Best Adventure for 1st Level PCs?

I'm running Goodman Games's "The Lost Vault of Tsathzar Rho " right now (well, not this very moment). It's one of Goodman's first Dungeon Crawl Classics adventures and is written by Mike Mearls.

It's a good dungeon crawl with a creepy, Lovecraftian vibe. It has some really cool, imaginative encounters. It's been fun (for me, at least) and has claimed the life of only one PC so far. :D

My only minor issues with the adventure are some wonky boxed text (just paraphrase) and one or two places where the stat blocks seemed off. At least the PDF version has been updated to 3.5e.
Yes, Tsathar Rho is very fun. I haven't *run* it for my players yet, but it's in the works (insert sinister laugh here).... There are several low-level Goodman Games adventures that are well written, but just generic enough to slot into any campaign setting. Hell, I'm shoe-horning their Idylls of the Rat King adventure into Greyhawk in my current game. I've skimmed the basic plot of Legend of the Ripper and it also looks quite sinister and fun...

The Adventure Begins in PDF shouldn't break your wallet or your bank or the mattress inside which you stuff all your bundles of cash.

How about the FREE ennie winning Wizard's Amulet from Necromancer Games? They've got a revised one here. Scoll just past the middle of the page.

I'll also second Goodman's Idylls of the Rat King. I am using it for my game (starting in two weeks!) Also DCC14, Dungeon Interludes has a series of adventures, not meant to be strung together, but all following an overarching plot. They are meant to be plopped in a different intervals in your homebrew. Nice, clean plot, nothing fancy, but good with pizza.

Everyone rave's about this one as a dungeon classic.

Really? At one of the big Living Greyhawk conventions a few months back a group of about 30 of us came to a consensus that this was one of the top 3 worst modules in the last year. I figured it was pretty much universally maligned. To each his own though...

My recommendations:

The Crucible of Freya: Not 3.5, but there shouldn't be enough differences to really matter. A great adventure from Necromancer which I used to start off two seperate campaigns. Great fun!

Anything by Goodman Games: You really can't go wrong.

I just picked up RAR from Necromancer... can't hurt to check out Crucible of Freya as well, I suppose.

My FLBBB is holding a copy of The Adventure Begins for me, so I can check it out later today. From Goodman Games website description, it looks like 2 or 3 of the adventures in it would be perfect for what I have in mind. ;)

Wizard's Amulet/Crucible of Freya by Necromancer Games is a must.
Anything from The Adventure Begins by Goodman Games. Basically any 1st level Goodman Games module will also do you.

Seconded on both counts. I just picked up The Transmuter's Last Touch and dig it very much.

Some ideas:

The Whispering Cairn
Dungeon 124
Excellent 1st level adventure but it is a more campaign orientated module than a one-shot. It would certainly take two sessions I think unless you cut some of the "campaign" material out (easy enough to do).

The Whispering Cairn is good but deadly as is much of the Age of Worms path. Just a caveat. I started my pcs at 2nd level and nearly had multiple pc deaths.
