    Multiple Action Points per Encounter?

I don't really see that as a drawback, actually, but more one of the goals of the house rule. It lets me make the BBEG a slightly bigger threat, and the players really feel heroic when they go nova in the big boss fights. And it encourages a real strategic tradeoff between fighting the BBEG...

    Multiple Action Points per Encounter?

Yeah, the striker in our party is an archer ranger, he'll defitely be grabbing that PP. I don't think it's that bad, it basically means one extra action point for him each encounter, but he's the striker, he's supposed to be throwing around lots of firepower. We played yesterday, and there was...

    Multiple Action Points per Encounter?

I've been allowing PCs in my game to use multiple action points per encounter (but only one per round). I'm also fast and loose with the milestones, giving out a full milestone for any L+2 or higher encounter and counting non-combat RP scenes and skill challenges as half-milestone encounters...

Acting as another race: is it worth a feat?

Thanks, I'll add in the skill bonuses, that's a good idea. That seems like it's well balanced against Light Step. The reason I'm wary of just granting it outright to the whole party is balance -- in the current party makeup, it really only benefits one member, the hammer using warlord/warlock...

Acting as another race: is it worth a feat?

I don't expect the whole group to actually care enough to take the feat -- it's specifically designed for one party member (a hammer-wielding warlord/warlock who is going to find a pacthammer along with the clues that lead them to getting this reward).

Acting as another race: is it worth a feat?

As part of a story reward, I'd like to grant a boon to PCs in my game that they can treat themselves as members of another race (dwarves) for purposes of feat qualification, item abilities, etc (much like how a half-elf treats themselves as either elf or human). My gut feel is to balance that...

    Resistance: Variable

Does it apply to that first attack? Or will it only apply to subsequent attacks of the same damage type?

    Resistance: Variable

When do they choose? Should I set it in advance based one what they think they'll be attacked by? Or should they wait until the PCs start attacking, and then use it against the first typed-damage attack that hits them?

    Magic Item Wish List????

Wish lists are vital. My players keep forgetting to give me one. As a result, stuff happens like last game, when I gave them a Flamedrinker shield (a pretty impressive item for a party that just hit level 3). Only problem -- the only shield user in the party is a tiefling. :( Hopefully this will...

Clarification needed - Light Step feat

Wow. I had no idea this feat existed, and have accidentally written a campaign arc that completely plays into it. The next arc of my game has the party hiking about 100 miles through the underdark to get to a ritual site and stop a ritual in just under four days, avoiding travelling above ground...

    Lava?

Lava-like threat for lower level pcs? Interesting thread. I'm not much of a geologist -- is there any kind of lava-like terrain obstacle that would be level-appropriate for level 4 pcs fighting magma beasts? I'm thinking something along the lines of each square being difficult terrain that does...

Do improvised weapons count as "wielding a weapon"?

My PCs have just been arrested, and they'll be breaking out of prison next time we play. I'm trying to figure out which powers they're allowed to use. The laser cleric seems fine -- he obviously doesn't get his implement bonus, but can still use all his powers. I think that the fighter and...

Are rituals a shared party resource?

Is that supposed to be the cost of inks and other materials for doing the actual copy? Or is it just the fees that the owner of the original books charges for 8 hours access to his book? I'd been assuming the latter, but if it's the former, that makes more sense. So presumably, someone...

Are rituals a shared party resource?

As near as I can tell, there's no rule that requires any kind of personalization of the ritual book -- assuming each PC ritual caster spends 8 hours on it, can they master rituals out of each others' books? And can they all share books that they find as treasure? Other than the importance of...

Good collection of free 1" maps on the web?

Does anyone know where I can find a good collection of 1" maps on the web (suitable for printing out and using in place of dungeon tiles or a battle mat)?

Warlock pact for NPC with demonic connections?

Thanks for all the thoughts, folks. Especially Mouseferatu. I hate that too. :) Yeah, normally I wouldn't spend too much time on crunch for an NPC, but this one is the twin sister of one of the PCs, and the PC is multi'd as a warlock herself, so I fully expect to have to answer detailed...

Warlock pact for NPC with demonic connections?

I'm building a warlock NPC for my game. What pact fits best (flavour-wise, not mechanically) for an NPC that has demonic connections?

Treasure parcel guidelines: maximum or expected value?

I have a question about how to best apply the treasure parcel guidelines. Should they be used as the maximum amount of treasure placed in an adventure, assuming that the party will miss or lose some of it due to less-than-successful searching and other problems they encounter? Or should I add in...

    When the Unspeakable Happens

I very nearly had this happen to me _twice_ in my game last weekend. I set it up to happen: the party had teamed up with a white dragon to attack a goblin lair (two enounters worth of goblins). During the fight, an elite hobgoblin warcaster deathmaster emerged from the lair, took a few potshots...

    NPC rules: what's the difference?

Thanks. So if I want to create a recurring BBEG who happens to be a human ranger, is starting with an NPC using the NPC rules, and then giving him a functional template to make him Elite a legal (and effective) way to do it? On a related note: can the Demagogue Clever Escape power be used with...
