    Classic 1E Mods in 4E?

I converted B4 for 4e... I guess that's OD&D rather than 1e, though. The one big lesson I learned from that is that the old maps don't have enough space in them - you need to increase the dimensions. Currently working on converting I1 for 4e.

    The Most Underpowered Class?

The Staff of Ruin makes up for Iron Armbands / Bracers of Archery.

    The Most Underpowered Class?

I would say that, for arcane strikers anyway, Arcane Power largely removed the weapon / implement disparity. Assuming you can swing the 13 Dex for dual implement spellcaster, anyway. The bonus damage from that should overtake the extra damage that weapon wielders get from superior weapons before...

    Implement/Shaman questions

Wizards, warlocks, and artificers, actually. Artificers (and bards) also have a bunch of weapon attacks where you don't need to worry about implements, which makes them more attractive for multiclassing. And of course you can always take AIP to combine all of your arcane spells under one item...

What 21st Level Monsters Still Need Converting?

That was certainly an issue that I had with running a high-level 3e game. I don't even recognize most of the monsters on that list, and of the ones I do recognize, only the cloud giant & the dino are "classic" monsters. The effigy and the ragewind were introduced in MM2? and I don't know the...

    High defense barbarian

It sounds like screen time is more the issue than the effectiveness of the barbarian. If the warlord is constantly giving the barbarian extra attacks, I can see that being a problem. Maybe you could discuss allowing the warlord to make those bonus attack & damage rolls, seeing as how the warlord...

Fighter multi-class into Barbarian - Question

I think the only thing to note is that barbarian rages don't give as much benefit without the barbarian at-wills.

    Dragon 379: Assassin Heroic Tier

While the lack of ki focus items is disappointing, it doesn't make the class unusable. Assassins can use weapons as implements, just like the monk.

T1: The Village of Hommlet - why are the PCs there?

This makes me recall being in Hommlet as a player in the 2e days, prodding the NPCs and asking them where the plot was (yea, the DM was annoyed with me - but hey, we were kids).

Would you buy a Scarred Lands 4e?

I would definitely check out a 4e Scarred Lands book. I only bought the original Creature Collection & the original Scarredlands book, and didn't get much use out of either of them, but I thought that the setting was very cool and mythical. It put a new spin on a lot of old D&D tropes while...

    It's Dark Sun

Psionic classes, sure. Shaman as 2e elemental clerics is conjecture - I'm going to hazard a guess that there will not be a direct translation of that class to 4e - and in any case Athas gets along just fine, if not better, without the concept (IMO).

    It's Dark Sun

Well, there's the DDI, where a one time $10 gets you the rules from every book published to date, incorporated into a really cool character builder and a monster builder (plus a year+ worth of Dragon and Dungeon articles). Otherwise, you just don't use classes or races that you don't have the...

    Pathfinder 1E [Pathfinder]Bestiary Preview

3.0 stat blocks told you spell DCs were X + spell level for a monster with SLAs. Which wasn't very helpful if you didn't know off the top of your head what level each spell was, so you had to look the spells up. In 3.5, they changed that to include the DC for each spell that allowed a save...

    Pathfinder 1E [Pathfinder]Bestiary Preview

Well, after finally getting the personalizer to work, I downloaded the new preview and... surprise, there are zero monsters in it that have significant spellcasting abilities. But from the intro section on spell-like abilities, it doesn't appear like they've fixed anything from the 3.5e...

    It's Dark Sun

I don't think this was the case in 2e. The original box set left it (and other questions) unanswered. And IIRC the Prism Pentad stated that there were never any gods at all on Athas. Pacts with elementals are pretty much exactly how elemental clerics came to be in 2e... I don't see any issue...

    Pathfinder 1E [Pathfinder]Bestiary Preview

Aha, I see. The link didn't work so I went to the Paizo site and tried to find the Bestiary preview myself, but apparently I grabbed the wrong file. Hopefully later I can download the real thing.

Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

I do think that the dragonmark rituals should be gained automatically, or be usable x/day for free, or both, in order to make that aspect of the mark useful to classes that already come with ritual casting... That's the one big oversight with the 4e marks, IMO.

    Pathfinder 1E [Pathfinder]Bestiary Preview

Meh. The artwork & design is really good. But the same problems with the 3e statblocks are in full force. Take the lammasu, for example. It can cast: holy smite (how many dice of damage does this do for the lammasu's caster level? DC 17 vs which save? save negates? half? special?), prayer...

Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

Actually, the aberrant marks were restricted to the same dragonmark races in 3e (the 3e "core" races - human, half-elf, elf, dwarf, gnome, halfling, half-orc).

Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

That's not true at all. As far as NPCs and the houses are concerned, the true value of the marks is going to lie with the ritual aspects. The minor combat enhancements that the marks carry are rather petty in comparison. A house Jorasco healer doesn't have to be a bard or a cleric or any...
