C&C is not just for old school gaming!

It's not a big worry for them, whatever sells products is always good. However, them telling me or anyone else how to promote their gaming system to others would be bad form regardless of how many folks would listen.

C&C is not just for old school gaming!

TLG obviously has no control over how players "evangelize" their system. Personally, I use plenty of 3e stuff in my C&C game, so for me the system is "new school" enough.

Basic Fantasy RPG -- what say you?

I've had a similar experience to you, PJ. We have had no problems whatsoever running it like this. Of course, that doesn't mean everyone will enjoy it. This has just been our experience with a 8-10 person group over the course of about the last year or so.

Seriously considering Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (2nd edition)

A wonderful game! Very grim and gritty, though. It doesn't do High Fantasy as well as D&D, C&C, or True20 IMO. But damn, it does low to mid fantasy stunningly. Combats are fast and brutal, character generation is a breeze, and the rules are easy to keep track of without hitting the books (as...

Pathfinder 1E Stop thinking of Pathfinder as magazine issues

My interest was piqued from the get-go, but pricing can be a barrier for some potential customers, so this subscription book may be a hard-sell for some. I, for one, will wait and see.

Who is interested in the Digital Initiative?

I said Too early to tell. However it will have to be BETTER than the combined Dungeon and Dragon magazine for me to subscribe. Specifically, I am hoping for a fully functional virtual online tabletop as well as content that at least matches the quality of Dragon and Dungeon magazines.

Seriously considering Castles & Crusades: How much does it differ from 3.X?

Character generation is quick and easy, the SIEGE engine is very easy to use and covers a wide variety of skills without the granularity, and combat is very fast to resolve. There are no AoO's or caps on spell damage. The saving throw system helps make sure there are no "throwaway stats". As was...

    Tell me about C&C

I love Savage Worlds and run a semi regular game that alternates between the ALIEN(s) universe and a modern tactical military game. They are both incredible fun. I also run a C&C game set in Aereth (The DCC#35 setting) and it's been loads of fun as well. C&C can easily add edges and hindrances...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

I seem to find myself in agreement with you alot, Hank. This is no exception. I have no idea what WOTC is thinking, but I will not get on board the E-Train that they setting up. I will likely support Paizo's new subscription "book" just on principle, and would have already done so, but the cost...

    [C&C] Holy Smokes ... I'm REALLY Impressed!

Sounds reasonable, Treebore. I'll definitely think about using this technique to offer PCs permanent little benefits.

    [C&C] Holy Smokes ... I'm REALLY Impressed!

I've never thought to do this, how has it worked in your game? It hasn't unbalanced anything too terribly has it? I would consider awarding permanent styles or maneuvers if I was more certain that it wouldn't give the recipient an unfair advantage.

    [C&C] Holy Smokes ... I'm REALLY Impressed!

I'm glad you discovered C&C, and I agree with your points. I love the game and am fortunate enough to have a bi-weekly local C&C game to referee. I have hacked the system to pieces adding backgrounds, bonuses and class changes left and right and the game still runs as smoothly as it did before I...

    Laptops at the gaming table

I allowed one of my players to bring his laptop to the game as a player and use it instead of books. This lasted two sessions until the other guys started complaining that they would see him surfing the web all the time and it distracted them. As the game's GM, I have been known to bring my...
