Andy Collins speaks - the Elf Wizard

At 1st and 2nd level? Speaking as someone who's played an elf wizard: yes, in almost every battle.

Andy Collins speaks - the Elf Wizard

And with his 20' move and -5 penalty to grapple checks, the low-level halfling wizard survives how? He's still going to be AC 12 against touch attacks, and he's not going to be able to outrun anything. I can buy that a 10th level halfling wizard might be a better deal than a 10th level elf...

Andy Collins speaks - the Elf Wizard

On what does he base this? Elves have to deal with a low CON, it's true, but high DEX helps them avoid getting hit, 30' movement lets them stay out of trouble better than those short-legged halflings, and free shortbow and longbow proficiency gives them a big edge when they're low level. I can...

my fighter and his odd skill selection......

I think this can be a useful technique. A fighter or barbarian with a few points invested in Knowledge(geography) might well make sense for a well-travelled character, for instance. And professions are always useful for that kind of flavour. The 1st-level barbarian I just created has invested...

    X-PATH 2 : The Forge of F.U. (Completed 15 April 2005)

    Dress ... napkin ... Bev's a bit fuzzy on the distinction :)

How many PrC's in your campaign?

If a PC wants it and the class is (a) interesting and (b) not broken, I allow it. I apply the same logic to myself in designing NPCs. D&D is about having fun - if part of that fun for the player in question is a PrC, and it won't hurt others' enjoyment of the game, then I have no problem with it.

    Review: Arsenal Hooked Hammer

Me either. Hence my thought that they obviously needed something to make them more interesting :) There are more 'common' weapons on the way, in the E.N.Arsenal series (as well as more 'unusual' ones), but I'm just a freelancer, so I don't know the specific release plan for them.

    X-PATH 2 : The Forge of F.U. (Completed 15 April 2005)

4 : (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction The creature that burst out of the darkness was fully nine feet tall, and as broad across the shoulders as any two men. A pair of slavering wolves raced at its heels, tongues lollign over yellowed teeth. "The Great Ulfe crush you all!" the creature bellowed...

Eat your heart out, Fellow Gamers....

FATAL's a free download, so I don't think it really counts. Personally, I have Synnibarr, Fashan, SenZar and Forge: Out of Chaos. My Bad Game Fu is strong :D

Piratecat's Updated Story Hour! (update 4/03 and 4/06)

I can bear personal testament to the DoD's capability to roll a whole lotta natural '1's :) You know, for me, this is a clear warning sign :D

    Use Rope Useless?

Because ropes make climb checks easier, and you need to know how to tie a rope to use one for climbing :)

Oh(DND) my god, what am I doing?

The Rules Cyclopedia was my favourite edition of (A)D&D prior to the advent of 3E. Give it a try -- I think you'll have fun. I've been meaning to run B1-9 that way, some time, myself :)

    Review: Arsenal Hooked Hammer

Hammer and Nail lets you get extra damage with light weapons. Power Attack does not. So it's not weaker - just different. It's better if you use a double weapon, for instance. :)

The best modules from Necromancer Games

Mark up another vote for The Vault of Larin Karr. That's a nice module, with good variety. Tomb of Abysthor is a very good dungeon, as some have already said. And Lost City of Barakus would have to go high on the list as well. I'm yet to finish reading Grey Citadel and City State of the...

[Spaceship Zero] Q-Ship (actually updated 19 May 2007)

DVD Trivia Extras In the original script for the episode, Archie's body was not destroyed in the final battle. This element was added because the robot costume was so cumbersome and fragile that it was causing delays in shooting. The decision was made to rebuild the costume, and the script...

What do you look for in a Story Hour?

Says it all, really. Though I'm not that bothered one way or the other on the summaries, they are a nice touch, if done well. Everything else is spot on :)
