    A Chang-xiao-bang/Dai-so-jo prestige class?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59kx8WVkOr8 I think this discussion is getting way off the main topic. So I'm gonna stop hijacking now and drop the physics of flails discussion. I don't have enough knowledge to refute what you're saying, but I'm pretty sure that the speed generated by the...

    A Chang-xiao-bang/Dai-so-jo prestige class?

I'm pretty sure that if you put a rock on the end of a stick with a cup on it and throw it, that it will go a far shorter distance than if you were to sling it with a rope of equal length to the stick. By your reasoning, the rock slung with the stick should go further. I'm saying that adding a...

    A Chang-xiao-bang/Dai-so-jo prestige class?

Weapon damage is generalized as a best-scenario hit in D&D. Because when you score a hit, it is considered a hit that -matters-. Rolling low on the dice would be the equivalent of using it for short punches and getting a hit off. Or...short punches would be how a monk would use it, using...

    A Chang-xiao-bang/Dai-so-jo prestige class?

The three-section staff is considered a flail weapon. As a flail weapon, it can produce more deadly blows than its non-flail counterpart, the staff. The next step up in damage is d8, compared to d6. In this manner, its just an all-wood flail. This is why chain maces, e.g. the classic idea of...

Arcane Archer as a base class

Edited, for power and a bit more customizability. I'm not sure how powerful this is, but it seems balanced enough. The Eldritch Knight Hit Die: d8. Class Skills The arcane archer’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Craft (Int), Hide (Dex). Listen (Wis), Move Silently...

Arcane Archer as a base class

yeah, I could do that. The question then becomes: Which of the class abilities are only worth half a feat? I ended up treating each one as a feat, so yeah. Which ones are underpowered?

Arcane Archer as a base class

Here's my take on Arcane Archer as a base class. I've been toying around with prestige classes, attempting to make them into base classes lately, for no particular reason other than to pass time. I've also done the same with the Eldritch Knight. I'm thinking about doing a Ranger rewrite next...

    Muay Thai Monk

I'd go barbarian/fighter, with grappling-oriented feats, PrC'ing into Reaping Mauler. Clinch 'em and don't let go. Improved grapple + kiss of the earth(or whatever its called), + sleeper lock + devastating grapple + rage + a countless number of unarmed attack/grapple feats to add to this = ouchies

Why is archery the prefered combat style?

force = mass x (velocity^2) The weight of the medieval arrow and quarrel are up in the air. Wikipedia says that quarrels were heavier, and arrows lighter. However, other websites online say otherwise. However, they're both blown out of the water by the weight of the lead ball, and the...

Why is archery the prefered combat style?

Quoted from Wikipedia, on their articles on crossbows and longbows. Also, yes, I realized this is tl;dr, and I realize that many people don't consider Wikipedia a reputable source, but its a better source than anecdotal evidence or hearsay. "The crossbow prod is very short compared to ordinary...

An "Arcane Archer" base class (nothing like the prestige class)

well, arcane archer handles it with their imbue arrow ability. Which basically does what you're trying. So the question is....charisma, or intelligence caster?

Kulu a short lived cat girl race

I just don't know what to say about this. Why are there no males? Also, why is a MAMMAL reproducing via parthogenesis?

    Knocking People Out. Any Rules?

there's a reason that this isn't covered in the D&D rules. Balance. Its a save vs. paralysis that can be done way too easily.

    Realistic Weapon Damage

actually, the current RAW is pretty accurate. the average noncombatant human has 1d4 HD, meaning an average of 2 hit points. A dagger used by the average noncombatant human deals 1-4 damage. Meaning that on a hit that matters, there's a 50 percent chance that once the attacker has struck a...

Eldritch Knight core class - help me build

For those of you who care, here's an updated version of the intelligence-based one, put on the 200-point model suggested by the anime d20 SRD. I think it might be too frontloaded, but then...a lot of classes are. TABLE: The Eldritch Knight Alignment: Any Hit die: d8 skill points: 2+...

    Core Three Only?

Core only isn't -that- limiting. And it does keep down on rules glut and the idea of TOO MANY options. But...I think I prefer the approach of core + 1 book. Or core + 1 book every 5 levels.

Dead Levels: Great Idea, But Let's Develop It

you know, for many of these aforementioned dead levels, now with the advent of skill stunts, if players really wanted to, they could just spend skill points on stunts and get shiny new buildzy abilities at those levels.

    Help: Realative Spell Power

Looking at archetypal evocation spells, and their damage caps(the easiest way I could think to calculate spell power), it looks like every two levels, the spells get a +5 to their damage caps, with 8th and 9th levels being 'crowning' levels, in which the power rises at an increased rate. 1: 5...
