Massachusetts game day July... And a Good Time Was Had by All

Me too? I also would like to play, if there is still are a couple of openings. You are two hours away so I would need to talk someone else into coming if I'm going to go (I don't want to drive two hours each way by myself). I haven't played anything else but d&d in so long I would love to play...

'Classic'-style games for an upcoming con

I'd sign up for Stuck In The Middle and Brooklyn. But I wouldn't do the third one because I personally don't got for space adventures. So, it's not a discription thing, it's a personal taste thing. Stuck In The Middle really interest me though (not enough to drive to your area mind you...).

    Group Mascot *go team go!*

None of my groups do now, but back in the old days (insert old man voice there) one group I played in had one. We played at my buddy John's house and when we needed that critical hit (as in "being a turning point or specially important juncture" and not 3.x "do extra damage dice"), John would...

    A crapload of new users?

Hey there. For a lark, I did a search on Google for "D&D" and eventually wound up here. I decided I liked it here, so I posted. I have a laptop, so with me on the kitchen table is an empty bowl that formally had Mac & Cheese in it, an empty glass, the new issue of Dragon, the new issue of...

Where you live: Gamer Paradise or Gamer Wasteland?

I live in South West Ct. and all the gaming stores seem to be about 45 minutes to an hour away from me. There's three I usually go to Cave Comics (which is mostly comics but still has a good gaming selection) in Newtown and West Hartford offers War & Pieces and Dragon's Lair. Both are about...

    Lamest character deaths ever!

Death by Shrieker! This one didn't happen to me, but someone else in my group. 1st Ed., My brother's game again. At this time my brother did critical hits and misses, and also had a rule where if the initial damage that brought you under zero took you past -4, you were dead but if it was...

    Probabilities for opposed skill checks

I'm just curious (and if I come across as snarky here, I really don't mean to), but why would you want to know this, other than "just cuz". Is there a practical application to this I'm not seeing?

Is it just me, or are the Olsen twins starting to resemble liches?

The Olsen Twins are very popular here in North America. The started out when they were somewhere around 2 or 3 on a popular TV show called Full House, which stayed on for about 7 years. While doing that show, they also started doing a series of direct to video films and specials that were some...

Is it just me, or are the Olsen twins starting to resemble liches?

I'll met you at the gate in an hour?

PC1: What happen to then? PC2: We missed it. PC1: When? PC2: Just now. PC1: When will then be now? PC2: Soon. (God I love that movie!) Anyway, I also tend to lean towards the "time is not a factor except when coordinating things" group. I would think that as long as there is some kind of...

    Sociopathic PCs -- an epidemic?

I can't help but notice how Central Casting got mentioned here and then just shot up in price on E-Bay. :) (One going for $51.00, the other for $20.50). As for me personally, I tend to make backgrounds with enough hooks for the DM to play with. I've never written other family still alive...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo - Scourge of Old Worlds?

I believe you need to take that post and send it off to WotC and Piazo. That was well put.

    Does D&D and alcohal mix?

I don't drink myself, but in my brother's game then tend to drink during the game, but there's been no problems.

Hit points: High side, average, straight roll, what?

In most of the games I play in, we do max at first level, then both the player & the DM roll, but the DM keeps his roll secret. Then the player has the option of keeping his roll, or going with whatever the DM got.

    Lamest character deaths ever!

While going home from the latest adventure, the party is attacked by a group of giant wasps. I step forward; the rest of the party goes & hides behind the big rock (cowardly bastards!). They end up knocking me unconscious, but don't kill me. I'm playing a cleric of the goddess of death in my...
