D&D 5E How powerful to make a hireling

Yes, the hirelings could demand 1 share of the treasure between them. That is, if there are 4 PCs, they each get a fifth of the treasure and the hirelings get a fifth to split amongst them.

D&D 5E How powerful to make a hireling

The Bard statblock has healing word & you could swap out one of the other 1st level spells for animal friendship.

Critical Role Critical Role show kickstarter update: Backers have to get Amazon prime to get the show

I just an email with a confirmation/access code for the early screening of the show. So even though I am a Prime member, as a KS backer it looks like I could watch it anyway (at least one to three episodes?) which is all I was promised as a backer. The perk is that I get to watch it early.

D&D 5E Rime of the Frostmaiden Post-Mortem (Spoilers)

Thanks for this write-up. I was given RotFM as a gift last year. I think I only ever intended to use it as a resource for Ice Wind Dale and adventuring in an arctic/subarctic environment. You would think that the people responsible for designing the game would know better than to publish an...

D&D General help! i'm stuck with a premise and need a game mechanic or creative solution to solve this unique "reverse-character creation" situation...

How about have them create their characters as they go? This is just off the top of my head mind you, so I haven't quite thought about all the problems this would cause. They are level 14 so you know their proficiency bonus is +5. As they explore the area around them and need to make skill...

D&D 5E What do you want and not want out of future settings added to 5E?

Isn't that what they did with Strixhaven & Witchlight? At least marginally? Genuine question based on what little hearsay I've read.

D&D 5E Yes to factionalism. No to racism.

Ugh, have you tasted their 'coffee'? Instant rot-gut.

D&D 5E Yes to factionalism. No to racism.

Nah, I brought mine on the bus & we'd play road hockey on the school yard at recess & lunch.

D&D 5E Yes to factionalism. No to racism.

And your Canadian Culture is probably vastly different from my own... unless you too are an Air Force brat raised mostly in Upper Canada who then moved to the Maritimes and married into an Acadian family.

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

@Morrus NuTSR is a very succinct name - when I read it, I pronounced it 'Nuts Arr'

    D&D 5E Mobs in 5E

The party definitely has those non-lethal options & others. I’m not worried about the party. I was looking for ideas on how to handle the mob IF combat breaks out. I think I have that covered now. I really have no idea how the party will react to this scenario. Which is actually very intriguing...

    D&D 5E Mobs in 5E

I have been wrong about the party's intensions before. It is best to be prepared, and now I know about the mob rules.

    D&D 5E Mobs in 5E

There is that possibility. I know some of the party will balk at that though. I strongly suspect that they will attempt to avoid the mob at all costs, but they've surprised me with stranger decisions. This started as a Halloween one-shot, but their compulsive need to look under every rock and...

    D&D 5E Mobs in 5E

Oh yes, this whole arc is a big grey area where they are just trying to do the 'less wrong' thing. The mayor is a vampire (and the party knows it) who has some long standing grudge against the hag. The dire treant was the hag's curse on the village in an attempt to erode faith in the mayor. The...

    D&D 5E Mobs in 5E

I guess it depends on the engagement distance. A fireball or two and they'd likely scatter. The mob is not going to fight to the death and really only wants to take the party into custody.

Yes of course! A swarm of humans!

    D&D 5E Mobs in 5E

TL/DR: There is a very real possibility that at my next session, the party may be confronted by a mob (hundreds of commoners vs a party of 7). I'm wondering how other DMs might handle that if it turns into combat. I have no doubt it would be a slaughter, the party is level 10/11. I want to avoid...

D&D 5E Help playtest my fantasy stat draft!

Hollywood is a team player and would definitely prepare mostly healing & control spells for use when not in beast form. I felt he needed the ASI, but I did contemplate taking a couple levels in wizard. His Con is OK, but War Caster would be next on the list of needs. If we can't peer-pressure...

D&D 5E Help playtest my fantasy stat draft!

Thanks! I have trouble with elven names - they often sound silly to me, like Scrabble tile names (grab a bunch of Scrabble tiles and try to make a name out of them) - fine for an NPC, but not a character I'd like to play. I wanted to lean into something 'naturey' for the wood elf and druid. Our...
