Do you read non-RPG fantasy novels?

WAAAY back int he day, I read the first three triologies of Dragonlance, and remember loving them a ton. But you know what? I went back recently and read the first one, and they just don't compare to my memories of them. Kinda like Star Wars a New Hope. jtb

Do your players name their group?

I have been part of the Zoo Crew, the Gryphon Companies, S*N*A*F*U, the Lost Boys, the Travellers, and the Companions of the Rising Sun, to name a few. I think there's more, but those are the ones that stand out.

You know you play dnd too much when.....

You make a serious social gaffe, and later refer to it as the time you rolled a "1" on a Diplomacy Check.

Advancing a Brain in a Jar

The main villian in Madeline L'Engle's Wrinkle in Time is a disembodied brain (no jar). With quite clearly a LE alignment, and massive psi power. As the heroes approach the "lair", they walk through a town where everything is exactly perfect. The lawns are all mowed the same, the flowers all...

    Paladin Codes of Honor

Anyone have a sample paladin code they use in their game? Or know of an old thread where this is covered? Specifically, the paladins in my game are worshippers of the sun god, and members of an order founded by a prophet 1300+ years ago - so they have a long tradition. They are also a little...

That is not a spell book, that's rope!

I played in a game where the spellbooks my wizard found were ancient elven egg-shaped gems, and by twisting them in a complicated rubik's cube fashion, they would project their information out like a hologram. Very cool idea. Spell research consisted of first finding the proper rubik's...

Challenging my high-lvl group (NPCs and monsters; my players shouldn't read this!)

In my campaign, the merchant patron of one of the characters has trade records going back to the founding of her House. It's been intimated that more information than just sales figures are in the journals; they were the personal journals of the leaders of one of the biggest Great Houses in the...
